to the world
do you value honesty beyond the face of the matter? to the core? honesty is a noble vitue, and, like free speech, is easily lost. what do you really think of honesty?

is it what you believe in?

Honesty is a good thing, but how far do you want to take it? Maybe honesty isn't just about telling no lies; would you consider it dishonest to conceal something?

It depends on what you're talking about...if you mean deliberately hiding something, then that's dishonest...or at least not honest. If you're not trying to hide something and it just never happens to come up, that might not be dishonest. Might.

I'm not one for absolutes, and I think an excess of any virtue becomes a negative thing. Honesty is something we like to believe is good and we strive to uphold... but there are things that can tear our minds apart, and sometimes it's only the lies that keep us safe.

I agree with Byron here 100%. Sometimes people aren't ready for the whole truth, yo. Don't make me use my Beorn argument again. My point is that there's a difference between honesty and truth.

But yeah. Honestly, I've only started being completely honest about shit recently. And even know, I have to remind myself not to lie about stuff.

Question: Did you cheat on me with my best friend?
Lie: Of course not. I love you.
Truth: Yes. I am scum.

Question: Do these pants make me look fat?
Lie: No, those pants do not make you look fat.
Truth: No, your fat makes you look fat.

Honesty when needed, lies when needed.

I don't believe in honesty in the same way that I don't believe in God. For me, belief means trusting implicitly that it will happen, that honesty will happen. I don't believe honesty will always happen; ergo, I don't believe in honesty.

Virtues are a choice that we are privileged to have. If we weren't so lucky to be born into a place as good as this, we might not be able to say we were able to get through a day without lying, cheating, or stealing.

I try to be honest. I try to be a good person. Not because it's the right thing to do, not because of some code of morals or some religious values, and certainly not because I feel I owe anything to anyone. I do it because I want to believe that people actually want to be good and if I can't be honest then who can?

I also added a comment to your post with the title "make a resume?". It was the most honest thing I could think of to say.
