Ken and Helen Carpenter are the only two of that beginning group who are still with the band today.
The Flashbacks will have their 20th anniversary next year(2003) and have truly come a long way.
The music library which started as 3 or 4 part harmony sheet music, now has well over 300 complete
big band arrangements and is growing constantly.
In July of 1997, the Flashbacks played played
the first monthly dance at the Kingsland Community Center. July 2003 marked 6 years non-stop
of these monthly dances.Dancers come from miles around to these dances every month.
The Flashbacks are constantly in demand for benefit performancs,
private dances, weddings, and almost any other venue where such a band is needed.
The Flashback band members have one thing in
common--They all love to play.The Flashbacks genesis was back in 1983, in the home of Bob and Ruth Deahl at Buchanan Dam,
Texas. It started not as a band but as a social gathering of a group of friends who wanted to make music.
Someone suggested that anyone who played an instrument should bring it. And slowly the big band was formed.
