“Alright, guys, it’s time to get serious,” Cameron, the lead guitarist, said into the
microphone.
“Yeah. We’re gonna take a moment,” Nicole paused looking out at the
small festival crowd. “And sing a song about Spam,” she said in all seriousness.
Walker and Taylor laughed standing off to the side of the stage. “Yeah,”
Zac shouted raising his arms.
“Thanks, man,” Nicole looked over at him and smiled. “But first we’re
gonna have to ask everyone to take two giant steps back. These people are
getting crushed up here at the front,” she joked as everyone laughed at the tiny
audience.
During the next couple songs, Isaac leaned over to his dad. “What do you
think of them?”
Walker nodded his head. “I’m probably thinking the same thing you’re
thinking.”
“I really like their sound,” Taylor said.
“Me too,” Zac agreed watching the band on stage which consisted of a
drummer, a bass player, and guitar player, a trumpet player and a lead singer -
the only female in the band.
“You think they’re signed?” Taylor asked.
“If they were, I highly doubt they’d be playing at Mayfest,” Isaac told
him.
“Thanks for coming you guys,” Nicole shouted into the microphone
giving one final wave.
“Thanks a lot guys. We’re Farmer Ted and we’ll see you around,”
Cameron said lifting the guitar off his body. They band decended the stairs onto
the concrete and grabbed water bottles at the nearby table.
“Excuse me,” Taylor appears next to the stage with his brothers by his
side.
“Hi,” the petite dark haired Nicole raised her eyebrows at him.
“We thought you guys were really great,” Taylor said.
“Whoa,” Cameron smiled looking at the rest of the band. “Thanks, man.”

“So... so we’d be on the road?” Nicole asked seated around a table with
the rest of the band across from Isaac, Taylor, Zac, and their father. “With you
guys?”
“Yeah,” Taylor laughed. “If you want.”
“If we want?” Cameron asked. “Of course we want to. I mean, right?”
He looked at the rest of his bandmates.
“This is all so.. so unexpected,” Nicole said nervously. “We don’t even
have a manager.”
“Or a label,” Cameron added.
“Or decent equipment,” Scott, the bass player said.
“It’s okay,” Isaac smiled. “You’d get all that on the road.”
“Well we can’t guarantee you’ll get signed,” Taylor said. “But...”
“No, I don’t even care if we get signed. Just getting to play for all those
people,” Cameron looked at Nicole figuring she was the one who needed the
most convincing.
Nicole nodded. “Well I mean, yeah. We can’t pass up this opportunity.”
“Are you not sure?” Walker asked.
“It’s just, a couple of us are in college. Scott and Andy still have to finish
this year of high school,” she explained.
“Well the tour doesn’t start until mid-summer,” Zac said. “So you’ll be
able to graduate.”
They nodded. “Nicole, you and Cameron can take a few semesters off
and go back later,” Andy said. “I mean, this is like, huge.”
“No pressure,” Taylor assured her.
“Right,” she laughed. “No pressure at all.” Everyone looked to Nicole
for an answer. “Well we all have to talk to our parents first.”
“Yeah,” Cameron said.
“No problem. But we’d like to hear from you as soon as possible,” Isaac
said.
