REPRESENTATIVE TRACY: I'm sure all of you have heard of "Carl's
FTP" but I wonder how many people know what it is or where it is.
So I'm going to tell you under one circumstance, you must flood it with
all of your files. If you aren't following me, hold on, I'm going
to explain right now.
Ok, an FTP is much like a web site. The only difference is that
everyone can share what goes on it. But the FTP doesn't use any sort of
programing codes or languages like HTML or JAVAScript, it's a storage area.
Imagine a folder on your desktop holding all sorts of files and even some
sub folders. Good, now imagine that online where anybody can upload
files too it and download files from it. That's an FTP. Everyone
can see and use what everyone else puts on the FTP.
So how do you upload files to the FTP? Well, let's have a tutorial.
Copy/Paste ftp://bobjoe.myip.org into
the address box of Internet Explorer. Press enter and welcome to
Carl's FTP. Now, how to upload. I hope to God you are using
Windows 95 or better otherwise I'll have to beat you. Fine a picture file
or really any file at all. It doesn't matter where it's from - just
pick one or highlight multiple ones, it doesn't matter. Ok, drag
them into Internet Explorer with the rest of the files already in the FTP.
It may take a while to load depending on the size of the file(s) you sent
and your connection to the internet. When it's done, pat yourself
on the back, you've just uploaded to carl's ftp.
Now, send a bunch of other junk to his FTP. The more the better,
upload pictures, images, MP3s, word files, works files, programs, movies,
EVERYTHING can be uploaded to carl's FTP. Just send the stuff that people
will use first, like music, pictures, and other multimedia. After
that, start sending crap.
Contact Carl or myself for assistance.
