For Immediate Release

REPRESENTATIVE TRACY: Good Afternoon. It's been quite a while
since we had a Thanksgiving during a War. It's the first time for some
families, who have brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, moms and dads in the
military, will have to miss them at Thanksgiving. For others, who've had
friends and relatives on active duty across the world, this isn't the first time
it's happened, nor will it probably be the last. America cannot take
vacations from protecting, and now fighting for, the peace and tranquility
the world saw shattered on September 11th. These brave men and
women all around the world do that for us and our peace loving allies
around the world. For that I ask that you give them thanks this
thanksgiving at the table with your family and friends with whom you
celebrate.
We in the United States have so much we take take for granted and
should be thankful for. That is what makes dinner this night so special,
this dinner is in celebration of all those things. All of our personal
freedoms and civil liberties others around the world may never be able to
imagine.
In your own way, pray for those American servicemen and women
around the world. Give thanks to the God you worship for the American
way of life and the things we take for granted in it. Give thanks for
everything you are thankful for in your own ways. Be thankful for your
family, the Thanksgiving meal that others less fortunate might not be
enjoying tonight. Give thanks that your friends and family present this
evening could be there.
And I give one really big thank you to my Grandma Dolly for giving me
the helmet, the bullet, and the many other things that she's given my sister
and myself for the joy of spoiling us.
Thanks, grandma.
