REP. KEVIN TRACY: I've been asked several times why I didn't make an effort
to go to homecoming this year. It is true that I am tired and I've
been on my feet since 6:20 this morning, but I've enjoyed the tight schedule
and my aching body alone would not have stopped me from going to the dance.
Next week, I will leave school early on October the 5th, at about 11
or 1200 hours. Then I will travel about five hours to meet a friend of
mine, Maddie Norman, in Appleton, Wisconsin. I will be arriving shortly
after her homecoming parade ends.
We plan on spending the remainder of the day together and attend her
homecoming game, which will be on October 5th. The next day we will spend
together also and then go to her homecoming dance. It is unlike our
system where the dance follows the game. The dance itself will be
October 6th, a Saturday. I'll leave in the afternoon on Sunday, October
7th.
Real quickly, I got a black suit for the occasion which I will reuse
for Speech and Debate, BPA, and other dances. I will still use my
old suits from time to time. I am currently looking for a solid gold
tie, no design. I saw one at Sears but there was a run in it. If
someone can help me, that'd be great.
I think I should say some things about my staff's views on me leaving
for Appleton. Rob hates it. He wants me to stay here.
Carl called her a Communist, which she is not. And Greg just flat
out ignored her. However, this isn't a political question as I can't
run for re-election and therefore popularity isn't as necessary for me.
I still like it, but I doubt this will effect it at all.
Maddie really is a nice, sweet, and kind girl, most of the time, and
really, she doesn't deserve the flak she is getting from my staff.
I don't want to attend two homecoming dances. If I go to one,
I either won't have equally good times or the first one would be so bad
I wouldn't want to go to the second.
Excuse me - I'm very tired from today. I'm going to go to sleep
now.
