Edge of a Broken Heart?!
Oh wait, that's not Vixen, that's Yuki! He's now half of the horribly named duo Rice, whose music I haven't heard, but I've never liked his voice anyway.

On a Jackson
Cool guitar, cool guitarist... a little too heavy on the effects for my taste, but one mustn't say bad things about the dead. (That Grover Cleveland, man, what a jerk!)

Scream Bloody Gore
Yukito on his Rickenbacker bass, why anyone plays one is beyond me. "Hi, I'd like your most unwieldly, ugly bass please." "Okay, that'll be $2000." But Yukito seems to do a good enough job on it.

Double Bass Fury
Hiro's actually a pretty steady double-bass pedal meister.

Pretty Lighting
Beautiful staging! I didn't realize they were so successful! It must've cost a fortune to produce.

DVD Capture

now playing: Death's Live in LA DVD (2001)

Well it took three hours but I eventually managed to figure out that if I use SmartRipper to pull a DVD's .vob files onto my hard drive, and then use Flask MPEG to convert them to AVI, and then use ATI's File Player to take snapshots of the images, I can actually capture screenshots from DVDs, import them into Photoshop, and make them pretty. But it's a gigantic hassle. I need PowerDVD! (Hint hinnnnnnt!)

But in the meantime, here's some Death and some Raphael for your eyes, from the recently released DVDs Death: Live in LA and First. Used with permission. Oh, wait, I mean ~without~ permission!

And a final completely unrelated note: Pierrot's on Space Shower TV tonight at 7pm. Three weeks ago I heard about it and marked it on my calendar. This morning I found out that we don't have Space Shower TV. So I decided to kill myself. But then, I reasoned, I would miss the Pierrot/Plastic Tree concert December 8th. So I live on!

On a BC Rich
Not such a cool guitar, but for my money you can't do much better than Chuck Schuldiner... Dave and Marty maybe, but only if you look at them ten years ago.

The Crowd
But where are all the cute 17-year-old schoolgirls?!? This crowd is just a bunch of smelly guys!

Scott Clendenin
Such a cool cool cool drummer... even moreso now that I've learned that me' mate Erik -hates- him! donkdonkdonkdonkdonkdonkdonk!

Scavengerrrrrr
This camera shot is the best of the lot... you see Chuck "sing," and play his complicated guitar lines at the same time... and you'd swear that the fingers belong to some other being off-camera, a god or something, so difficult and so cool is the stuff he's playing.
(At most points throughout the DVD, it looks like a big white spider is angrily skittering up and down the fretboard chasing a tasty fly. And it sounds SO perfect!)
