Had
to cancel practice with Bishop, because tomorrow morning I have to
be up "early ("11am) for a special-occaision-type lunch
that Kayos' parents are hosting. Sukiyaki for all, dig it! (Bishop
practices 12-3am... trains run at 5.)
Spent
the bulk of today working on HTML lessons, and headed out around 6
to meet up with Kaz. He's a drummer -- and a good one, from the tape
he played of a recent rehearsal. We talked about all kinds of great
bands, from Metallica and Megadeth to Obituary and Death to Arch Enemy
and In Flames. We went to a pub/restaurant and ordered edamame (salted
peas still in the stalk thing... the bed? whatever that thing is ca
The Pod! salted peas still in the pod!)
Unfortunately
for the restaurant, their policy on Edamame distribution is "We
bring a gigantic bowl to your table, and you have one chance to grab
as big a handful as you can." The waitress actually braced herself
when I reached out with my hand (le hand du moi c'est grande! 22cm
from thumbtip to pinkytip when splayed, I just measured.)
So
me and Kaz ended up with a nice helping of edamame to go with the
beer. He was in Australia for a year, so are conversation was mostly
in English, which was great, although as we drank more I knew i started
gabbering way to fast -- I was just getting excited about discussing
metal freely for the first time in a long while!
So
anyway, we're meeting up next week, and I'm gonna have to learn Master
of Puppets, War Ensemble, Holy Wars and Hangar 18, and
from there we'll just goof around. He's got a good lead guitarist
in mind too, so I have a good feeling we'll all blend together nicely.
I may even jump in on vocals (cover your ears)!
