How to Draw Comic Books
Writing

Writing is the backbone of the comic book. Since comic books are a form of storytelling, it only makes sense that writing would be a key part of the equation. Since I am not a writer myself, I can only give a few key points to go on. If writing is your interest in this field, you can find several links in the Links portion of this site to help learn more about the topic.

Characters

Characters are a major part of the story. Before you even begin writing your story, you should put alot of thought into your characters. Try to create as many details as possible about them. Remember that they had lives before they were in your story, so what happened to them. Even if a detail won't come up in the firts, third, or even fifteenth issue of your story, jot it down in a notebook. Planning out a characters history, quirks, etc. will help the story seem more real.

Pacing

Pacing is how fast or slow your story moves. Keeping the right pacing can make or break your story. Slow pacing is good for dramatic storylines, where lots of time is devoted to character development on an emotional level and how they deal with things that happen in their lives, while fast pacing is meant for action or adventure comics, where the story is very goal oriented: get the treasure, kill the monster, etc.
