Writers' Group Updates
27 February 2005
Starting an online writers' group
I'm interested in starting an online writers' group in order to find other writers like myself who want peer editing and reviewing in order to improve their writing. I myself am a fiction writer, but all writing would be welcome, with the exception that it be serious work, not just for fun. I want to create a group for writers who are interested in publishing their work and really want constructive criticism from other serious writers. The group would work mostly by email. We would email each other our writing (short story, poem, essay, etc) as a word document, and then each member would read and review, editing within the document, and making comments, suggestions, and a final overall summary. These edited files will then be emailed back to the author. Authors may use the blog to post specific questions about the piece, or anything else that is related to our group, anything PG-13 at least, so that within the group we may use the blog as a communications tool. There won't be deadlines other than those each writer specifies, no membership fees, and only the rule that we adhere to CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and the intent to improve our writing.
Please, if anyone is interested, send me an email, and we can get started with the group. I'm looking to start with at least four members, to ensure that writing is being circulated, but if the group expands that would be wonderful and might allow for writers of specific areas (fiction, non-fiction) to only email others that write the same type, and similarly for genre writers. This would make it easier because we wouldn't have people who write fiction, like myself, trying to help poets.
This site would be confidential. Members will keep email addresses confidential and all files will be accounted for. Again, I'm looking for serious writers here.
Take the initiative. The first step to publication is getting your work in circulation.
