Book Review 001
THE 'HONOR HARRINGTON' SERIES BY DAVID WEBER:

The book "The War of Honor"

The "SYNOPSIS: Thomas Theisman didn't. After risking his life and a fresh round of civil war to overthrow the Committee of Public Safety's reign of terror and restore the Republic of Haven's ancient constitution, an interstellar war was the last thing he wanted. Baron High Ridge didn't. The Prime Minister of Manticore was perfectly happy with the war he had. No one was shooting anyone else at the moment, and as long as he could spin out negotions on the formal peace treaty, his government could continue to milk all those "hostilities only" tax measures for their own partisan projects. His Imperial Majesty Gustav didn't. Now that the fighting between the Star Kingdom and the Havenites had ended, the Andermani Emporer had his own plans for Silesia, and he was confident he could achieve them without a war of his own. Protector Benjamin didn't. His people had made to deep a committment to the Manticore Alliance, in blood as well as treasure, for him to want to risk seeing it all thrown away. And Honor Harrington certainly didn't. The "Salamander" had seen the inside of too many furnaces already, knew too much about how much war cost. Unfortunately what they wanted didn't matter....

- (10,09,10,08) Easy to read and understand. The book and its attendent series delves into the social philosophy and conditions under which the best "laid plans of mice and men oft go astray..." to quote STEINBECK. The world of Harrington is simple to understand and makes the backdrop of the social events a pleasure to read. I have personally read this book and much of David Webers Honor Harrington series many times it is a book and a series of books well worth purchasing. This is definately not a one time read from the local library.

A BAEN Book distributed by Simon & Schuster. 1230 Avenue the Americas New York, NY 10020 Books listed price $26.00 US or $41.00 Canadian.

BOOK RATINGS AND REVIEWS
All books are rated by the following:

(10,09,06,04)

- (10, 00,00,00) The first number indicates how I feel about the readability of the book. How often I would reread for understanding or pleasure a series of books or just the book I critiqued.

- (00,09,00,00) The second number indicates whether I would buy the book for my reading library or check it out from the library. The number will either be a 05 or 10. 05 is check it out from the library. 10 is I strongly recommend everybody buy the book.

- (00,00,06,00) The third number indicates from 10 to 00 how close to the societal mainstream the philosophies and ideas of the book are. How easy or difficult the book will be to actual read through with understanding.

- (00,00,00,04) The fourth number is from 10 to 01 how well I personally agree with the philosophy espoused by the author.

Personally, I recommend you at least read the books from the library and compare what you believe with both the book in question and my stated review (beliefs). In all things, try the spirit, in good manners.
