Chapter Three

My welcome home definitely wasn't what I had thought it would be. Sean and dad were actually rather happy to see me. It was definitely a surprise that they were waiting for us in the driveway and Sean was opening my door before the car even stopped. He literally pulled me out of the car and gave me a huge hug. I giggled uncontrollably at it all, it was definitely all overwhelming.

We all went inside and talked over dinner. It didn't even feel like I was in the hospital all this time, they made it feel as if I never left home. That's the way I wanted it to be.

I fell asleep with a smile on my face, who would have known it wouldn't last that long.

School was when it all went down hill for me. They always said that through rough times you find out who your real friends were, and I definitely did. he whispers and stares were too much for most of my friends, Danny, Casey, and Mark stood by me all the way.

Besides the bunch of ignorant people at school I was happy to be back in the familiar surroundings of family and friends. To add to my good mood I had received the phone call I was waiting for.

I had just gotten back from school and I could already hear the phone ringing. I dropped my bag and dashed to my room hoping the caller wouldn't have to endure listening to my answering machine. I still didn't know why I bothered to have one, people just hung up on it anyway.

"Hello?" I said even before I had fully picked up the receiver.

"May I speak to Trisha please?"

"Speaking, who's this?" I asked stupidly as if I didn't already know.

"It's Lance, we met at the hospital." He answered.

"Hi" I greeted him, "How are you?"

"Good and you?"

I cringed, I hated small talk, I was never good at it.

"Fabulous, happy to be back to old routine."

"Yea, me too."

"Oh, when did you get out?"

"Shortly after you." He laughed " I was only in for exhaustion."

We continued the small talk for a little while, I was feeling antsy to have the conversation go somewhere, it didn't. We ended with me having to go eat dinner, he gave me his cell phone number and we said we were going to stay in touch.
