~ About Brasswind ~

"Water fight in the city fountain!"

Brasswind was formed nearly eight years ago when tuba player, Ray Maierle, decided he needed more fun out of his music. So he gathered his musician friends from around Northern Indiana together and started "Brasswind" with the intent of providing a variety of enjoyable music in the tradition of the brass quintet.

The Group's main focus started out in the church playing inspirational music to enhance worship and hopefully to draw those attending closer to God. This has continued to be our first goal as a Christian quintet even now as we play for elegant weddings, civic functions, or park concerts.

The members of Brasswind are from a vast variety of different musical backgrounds as well as work backgrounds. Steve McCune, of Syracuse, is a full-time student at Grace College where he plays in the Grace Orchestra and works on campus while completing his major; Kim Baney, from Warsaw, works part-time at the Warsaw Housing Authority as their Program Manager and works with trumpet players from the local high school bands; Gary McDaniel, from Mentone, works as an electrician at the world renowned Donnelly's; Dennis Koehn, of Goshen, is a Professional Marketing Consultant; and Paul Gardner, from Milford, works at Leisure Pools in Syracuse as a professional service technician.

Through all of our differences, our love for music is unanimous!! We continue looking forward to each performance and have a good time at practice preparing for each one.
