Vengeance

Vengeance

Chapter 7

by: Melissa

Queen Maeve sat in her throne room, thinking. Thanks to her Bogey spy, she had found out all about the visitor to Kells. At first, she had been shocked. She had thought her sister was dead. After a bit, the fact had set in, and Maeve had started thinking clearly. Of course her sister wasn't dead. That would have been too easy. Just like the Mystic Knights, her sister had to be around to be yet another thorn in Maeve's side. And she was on a quest. For vengeance against her. Maeve almost laughed out loud. It was silly, really. Lissa had came for revenge, with no powers or troops.
And why? The bogey had also reported that Lissa was heir to the throne of a far away land. Why would she want to bother with vengeance? Maeve shook her head. Apparently, Lissa was just like their father. Stubborn, strong willed… Maeve stood slowly. Well. If her sister came for vengeance, Maeve would just have to give her something back……
Lissa smiled as she settled on the stone step. The fabric of her gown, borrowed from Deirdre, felt soft against her skin. Apparently, everyone in the castle was in a good mood tonight. A few men played merry tunes, and others danced. Lissa laughed at the site of Garrett trying to convince Deirdre to dance with him. Finally, she consented, and the two danced. Deirdre spotted Lissa laughing at her and made a face, making Lissa laugh harder.
A voice spoke up behind her. "Something amuses you, princess Lissa?"
She turned slightly, and smiled. "Angus. I told you. Its just Lissa."
He laughed. "Alright. If you insist."
She motioned to the spot next to her on the step, and he sat down. She pointed out Deirdre and Garrett dancing, and he laughed.
"Those two are so alike. She just doesn't want to admit it."
Lissa nodded. "Where is Rohan and Ivar?"
He grinned. "Those two? They are just outside the castle wall, having a contest to see whose weapon is more powerful."
Lissa nodded. "I see. And whose weapon do you think is more powerful?"
He grinned and lifted his terra mace up. "Neither. Mine is."
Lissa laughed. She rather enjoyed being with this young man. And he was rather handsome… She pushed a lock of her thick brown hair back. She hated her hair. It was so like her sister's…Just straighter.
As if reading her thoughts, Angus looked at her. "So. Hate your sister,eh?"
Lissa rested her chin in her hands, thinking. "Hate? No. She is my sister, even though she tried to kill me. But.."
He nodded. "So how do you plan to get this revenge you speak of? I assume murder is out of the question.."
Lissa stifled a laugh. "Slightly. I'm not sure… You know, its funny Angus. I had such big plans for when I got here. I was going to go to Maeve, confront her, and go home. But now that I'm here…"
He nodded. "Your not quite sure what to do."
Lissa nodded and sighed. "Oh, Angus. What should I do?"
He bent his neck to look in to her face. "Well. I know what I think you should do."
Lissa looked at him. "And what's that?"
He seemed to blush in the candle light. "Well. I think you should join us."
Lissa stared. "Join you? You mean the Mystic Knights? Oh, Angus.."
He stood in front of her. "Well, why not? What better revenge then to fight against her with her most hated enemy!"
Lissa looked away. "Angus. Its not that simple.."
He gently caught her chin and forced her to look at him. "Why?"
She sighed, frustrated. "It just isn't!" She stood.
"I have to get to bed. See you in the morning."
Not waiting for a response, she ran up the steps and in to the castle.
Angus sighed softly and sat down.
Rohan, who had finished his competition with Ivar, saw his best friends glum face and sat next to her. "Angus? What's wrong?"
Angus looked at him sadly. "I think my big mouth got me in trouble again.," Rohan looked at him sympathetically. "Ah, Angus. Don't worry. She'll surely forget whatever you said tomorrow."
Angus sighed. He couldn't get Lissa off his mind. "I hope you right,Rohan. I hope your right.."
