Chapter 5

by: Melissa

Garrett and Ivar smiled and walked up to the trio. Deirdre followed slowly, thinking. Maeve's sister. Why had she disappeared so suddenly? Why hadn't Deirdre heard about her until now? And how did they know that she wasn't a spy for Maeve? So many unanswered questions…and if Deirdre had her way, they would be answered now! She came up to the group as Lissa was hoping off of her horse and handing the reigns to Rohan. He took the horse to the palace barn as they other men surrounded Lissa.
"Glad you decided to come say hello, Lissa." Garrett said, smiling warmly.
Lissa bowed her head slightly. " When I met up with Rohan and Angus in the woods, I thought I might have been a little rude to you earlier, so I decided to come make amends."
Angus snorted. "Right. After we spent half a hour convincing you to come."
Ivar nudged Angus in the stomach. Lissa just laughed.
"You are right, Angus."
Angus smiled smugly. Ivar rolled his eyes. Deirdre opened her mouth…
"Deirdre!," She turned. Her father was coming toward them.
She nodded and bowed slightly. "It is good to meet you, King Coneher."
He bowed back. "My daughter and her friends told me about your brief meeting earlier."
Lissa stifled a laugh. "Yes. I'm afraid my horse and I almost ran Angus over."
A man Lissa surmised was the druid of Kells approached them. "I would not worry. Angus has a thick head."
Lissa laughed softly. Angus glared at the old man. "Ha ha. Very funny, Cathabad."
The old man smiled. Then he studied Lissa. "Do I know you?"
Lissa opened her mouth to say no, but Deirdre beat her to it. "Yes, Cathabad. I think you do know her."
Lissa stared at Deirdre. She had apparently found out her secret.
Cathabad was staring at Deirdre. "Deirdre..what.."
Deirdre looked at Lissa. "Well? Aren't you going to tell them about your sister?"
Lissa blushed. Rohan and Angus looked at her in confusion. Garrett and Ivar looked around uncomfortable. Her father and Cathabad stared at her.
"Your sister? What about her?"
Lissa sighed softly. "Your daughter is very good at finding out information, King Conchobar. I must warn you. If you know who my sister is, you will not be as kind towards me, I fear."
The king laughed. "Why would your sister's identity be so bad? Unless..its Mauve." He laughed again, joined by Rohan and Angus. They soon realized no one else was laughing.
Cathabad stared at Lissa. "I do know you! I thought so.."
King Conchobar stared. Rohan and Angus exchanged another glance. "You must be joking! Mauve has no sister!"
Lissa laughed bitterly. "She thinks she doesn't. She thinks I am dead, wretched woman."
Conchobar stared. "What..I don't understand."
Lissa sighed. "It's a long story."
Conchobar glanced at Cathabad, then at his daughter, then back at Lissa. "Well. I love a good story, Lissa."
She looked at the ground, then back at the king. "I shall tell you."
