Chapter 3

by: Melissa

She climbed out, and brushed her clothes off. "What are you doing here!" She demanded.
The men whirled around. Angus's eyes lit up. "Lissa! There you are.."
She placed her hands on her hips again. "Once again, Angus, you amaze me with your stating of the obvious. Yes, I am here. Now, why are YOU two here?"
Rohan and Angus exchanged a glance. "Well..um…we were..worried about you! Yes. And we decided to look for you."
Lissa raised an eyebrow. "I see. Worried,eh? Well, you worries are unwarranted, gentleman. As you can see, I'm perfectly fine, so you may leave now."
Rohan and Angus exchanged a glance. Rohan sighed. "Actually, we can't do that."
Lissa fingered her dagger, securely hidden in her slacks. If they tried anything…
"And why is that?," Rohan held his hands out in a gesture of helplessness. "Well, King Conchobar of Kells sent us to look for you."
Lissa's eyes widened. Conchobar! Princess Deirdre. It all fit now. She could vaguely remember Maeve and her father arguing about the two when she was younger. Even as a teenager, Maeve had been a evil person, and she had wanted to kidnap the princess for bribery. Lissa's father had said no, he wanted to win Kells fairly… Lissa shook her head to clear these thoughts.
Angus looked at her in concern. "Are you alright?"
She nodded quickly. "Yes. Fine. Now, leave me be! I have a quest to finish." She quickly gathered her cloak, tying it around her slender neck.
Angus and Rohan exchanged another glance. "Wait!"
Deirdre sighed tiredly as she turned away from yet another villager who had no information to give. Surely someone had to know about this young lady. She couldn't have just appeared out of thin air..she heard her name being called.
"Deirdre! Over here!" Ivar was waving at her.
He was standing next to a frail, old man. She walked over, followed by Garrett.
"Think he knows something?" Deirdre looked up at him.
"I hope so. I haven't been able to find anything."
Garrett nodded. "Me neither."
They approached Ivar and the old man.
"This is Terran, Deirdre. He has quite a tale to tell…and he knows who our mysterious young lady is."
Deirdre looked at the old man, Terran. "You know who she is?"
The man nodded. "Yes, Princess. From the description given by your friend here, I know quite well who she is. I'm surprised no one else does..although she disappeared at least ten years ago. You were all pretty young then. And with the war and all.."
Deirdre was getting impatient. "Please, sir. If you know who she is, tell us!"
He looked up,startled. "Oh! I'm sorry..my fault. When you get old, your thoughts ramble together."
Garrett put a hand on Deidre's arm. "Its alright, sir."
The old man nodded. "As I was saying, this young lady your talking about. She's Maeve's sister."
