Chapter 1

King Conchobar looked at his obviously agitated daughter, who had just finished telling him their story of the mysterious young lady in the forest. Lissa…the name was familiar.
"Do you think she has business with Maeve, my king?"
King Conchobar shrugged. "Hard to tell, Angus. Although, did she not say she was on a quest? And even if she was dealing with Maeve from another kingdom, why would the king have sent a young women to do his dealings, instead of a knight?"
Conchobar sighed. It was puzzling indeed. And if there was one thing he didn't need right now, it was more puzzles.
He looked at them. "Rohan. Angus. Go out to the forest, and towards Maeve's. See if you can find this women. Deirdre, Ivar, Garrett. Ask around. Maybe one of the villagers knows something."
They nodded, and set off on their tasks. Angus frowned as he followed Rohan out of the throne room. A mystery. Something he and the other Mystic Knights did NOT need.
Lissa slowed her horse to a stop, and hopped off. This seemed a good place to rest. She looked around. This place was definitely familiar. She had to be close to Temra. She unhooked the annoying cloak, and draped it over Fairy. Under the cloak, she wore a simple outfit of loose slacks and a vest. Not being a fan of riding side saddle, as was the most common position of ladies on horseback, she had to wear pants as opposed to a dress.
She tied Fairy to a tree near the pond, and sat to rest. She rubbed her leg, still sore from her spill earlier.
Deirdre…the name had been familiar. Lissa knew exactly what Kells was. The land her father had been warring with, up until his death. Their had been talk of peace, but her charming sister had ruined that…right before she had cast Lissa out to die. Lissa crouched near the pond's edge, and cupped her hands to gather some water. She lifted it to her lips…and jumped up.
Footsteps! She quickly dove behind a rock, then realized she had left Fairy tied to the tree. She silently cursed. The footsteps were joined by voices, and two figures stepped in to the clearing. Relief flooded through her, followed by annoyance. It was two of the people that had ran in to her earlier! Angus, the one she had almost ran over, and Rohan, she believed it was. She could hear them talking.
"She has to be here somewhere, Angus! There's her horse."
Angus shrugged. "So? Maybe she left without it."
Rohan rolled his eyes. "Right, Angus. She left her horse here and decided to FLY for the rest of her quest!"
Angus shrugged. "Well."
Rohan gently patted Fairy, who whinnied softly….and tugged his head toward the direction of her hiding place. Lissa's eyes narrowed. Traitorous horse! And after all she had done for it. Now Angus was petting Fairy.
"What? Where's your owner, eh?"
Lissa sighed. Oh, well. She climbed slowly out.
