(On a forsaken school campus, within a derelict and virtually forgotten building, one being dared to traverse the ancient paths of years past and recollect the fateful day of Origin.)
The woman walked the empty halls alone. It had been years since they had seen the passing of human feet. In fact, there were no tracks of any kind across the dust and dirt that now formed a layer over everything; even the rats and mice had avoided this place. Evidence of bloody carnage, years old, was scattered here and there. Chairs and tables were overturned, holes decorated the walls (either from bullets, bombs, or bludgeons), blackened books and rooms lined the halls (evidence of ancient fires), darkened spots of long-dried blood accented everything, and remnants of those who once walked these halls littered the abandoned building. Why have I come here? she thought to herself. Why have I come back to this place I once knew so well? Are there any answers waiting for me here? Will I find what I lost so long ago and have yearned for ever since?
The woman sighed, looking for a place to sit. Finding an open classroom, a few desks and chairs still intact, she entered and took a seat near the back, next to one of the Unfortunates who was left to rot, alive or not, all those years ago. Saying a silent eulogy for the dead that sat beside her, she slowly leaned back in the chair and closed her eyes. It was time to remember…
