Concentration is defined as when an industry becomes dominated by a few key players rather than many smaller companies. Concentration is especially a concern in telecommunications, newspapers, books, and every media source available. Once a dominant company owns many media outlets, the information released will only be what the dominant company wants you to know. Disney is the perfect example of media concentration. With Disney's interests in ABC, Pixar, AOL, various magazine and book publishers, music labels, and other media sources, they lead the way in almost every media related field. Nearly all news used and released must pass through a Disney owned company. To see a full list of Disney owned companies click here.
