Best Classic Arcade Games

1

Frogger (GB Color)

By Majesco and Morning Star Multimedia

Classic Frogger on Game Boy Color. Who wouldn't like that?

2

Game & Watch Gallery 2 (GB Color)

By Nintendo and Hal

This was one of the first games for Game Boy Color.

3

Frogger (SN)

By Majesco and Morning Star Multimedia

Unfortunately, this was the last Super NES game ever. Fortunately, it got onto the Top 3.
There is no Top 5 Classic Arcade Games chart in the Top Games section. However, the top Classic Arcade game (on both the Favorite Top 10 and Most Wanted Top 10) is shown in the Classic Arcade Section.
Best Multi-Player Games

1

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (N64)

By Acclaim and Iguana West

With a deathmatch mode that's about as good as GoldenEye 007, Turok 2 is a great "party" game.

2

International Superstar Soccer '98 (N64)

By Konami / Major A

When it comes to four-player soccer games, Konami's ISS98 does it best.

3

FIFA '99 (N64)

By EA Sports / EA Canada

Whoops! I suppose it's the best soccer game around, but not the best multi-player soccer game around.

Best Re-Released Games

1

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SN)

By Nintendo

Zelda this, Zelda that. It seems that Zelda is the only thing people were talking about last year. Re-releasing Zelda 3 only fueled the fire.

2

GoldenEye 007 (N64)

By Nintendo and Rare

Did you know that this game was the best-selling video game of 1998, even though it was released in 1997? It's true.

3

Mario Kart 64 (N64)

By Nintendo

Not only is GoldenEye 007 a great party game, but Mario Kart 64 is too.

Banjo-Tooie (N64)

By Nintendo and Rare

The sequel to Rare's only 1998 game is in the works and a lot of people are getting excited about it.

2

Perfect Dark (N64)

By Rare

Everything about this game is supposed to be as good or better than GoldenEye 007. Let's hope that Rare will keep its promise.

3

Smash Brothers (N64)

By Nintendo and Hal

Old N64 faces: Mario, Link, Fox McCloud, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi. New N64 faces: Kirby, Samus Aran, and Pikachu. And what could be better than using Kirby to blow away Link? (Could that actually happen?)

Be sure to check out the Classic Arcade Section. There, you can get information on recently released classic arcade games, future classic arcade games, rumored classic arcade games, Japanese classic arcade games, and re-released classic arcade games. The section is updated once or twice a month.

Classic Arcade games are arcade games (generally) from the early 1980's, such as Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Space Invaders. Although there was only one N64 arcade game in 1998 (Robotron 64), there will be many more in 1999, including Asteroids 64, Space Invaders 64, and Battlezone 64. With Game Boy Color now released, you can expect more arcade games for that system in 1999, including the three Arcade Hits games from Midway and Space Invaders. As you may or may not know, the last game (so far) for the Super NES is Frogger, another classic arcade game. Last year, Nintendo released two other classic arcade games for the Super NES, also: Arkanoid: Doh It Again and Space Invaders. The latter of the two was re-released in the fall of 1998.

Multi-player options are almost a must for Nintendo 64 games, since the 4-player "option" is built right into the Nintendo 64 itself. These games to the left are the most popular and most fun multi-player (3-player or 4-player) games of 1998.

There were a lot of re-released games in 1998. There were 11 games re-released for the Nintendo 64, at least 12 re-released for the Super NES, and more for Game Boy, including James Bond 007. These three games to the left are the most favorite games that were re-released in 1998.

Did you know that there were only four games re-released for the NES. They were The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Punch-Out!!, and Metroid. There was only one re-released game for Virtual Boy and that was Mario's Tennis.

If you missed voting for your most wanted 1999 games, don't worry. You can still vote for them in the weekly Top Games section.
