1 |
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (N64) By Nintendo and LucasArts and Factor 5 |
It looks as if the best sci-fi game of 1998 just happens to be a Star Wars game. Anyone looking forward to seeing the next movie? |
2 |
Space Station: Silicon Valley (N64) By Take 2 and DMA Design |
The whole game is science-fiction. It takes place like 1,000 years from now, the space station is overrun by animal-like robots. Getting the picture? |
3 |
Body Harvest (N64) By Midway and DMA Design |
This is one of the major N64 games that focuses on alien invasions, something that seemed to only be in movies. |
| There is no Top 5 Sci-Fi Games chart in the Top Games section. However, the top Sci-Fi game (on both the Favorite Top 10 and Most Wanted Top 10) is shown in the Sci-Fi Section. | ||
| Best NCL Games | ||
1 |
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) By Nintendo |
This is definitely the best NCL-made game EVER, not just in 1998. |
2 |
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (GB Color) By Nintendo |
This is probably the best NCL-made game EVER (for Game Boy). |
3 |
1080° Snowboarding (N64) By Nintendo |
Well, it's better than F-Zero X and Yoshi's Story. |
| There is no Top 5 NCL Games chart in the Top Games section. However, the top NCL game (on both the Favorite Top 10 and Most Wanted Top 10) is shown in the NCL Section. | ||
| Best Cinema Games | ||
1 |
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (N64) By Nintendo and LucasArts and Factor 5 |
This game seems to be on almost every Top 3. |
2 |
James Bond 007 (Super GB) By Nintendo and Saffire |
James Bond returns in 1998 in his first Game Boy game. |
3 |
South Park (N64) By Acclaim and Iguana Texas |
Since South Park was so well-liked on TV, it's no wonder people like it on their N64's. |
| There is no Top 5 Cinema Games chart in the Top Games section. However, the top Cinema game (on both the Favorite Top 10 and Most Wanted Top 10) is shown in the Cinema Section. | ||
| Best Shooter Games | ||
1 |
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (N64) By Acclaim and Iguana West |
Since the game is sort of a mix between Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and GoldenEye 007, you can see why it was voted the best shooter game of the year. |
2 |
South Park (N64) By Acclaim and Iguana Texas |
This game almost didn't make it out before the end of the year, but still got up to second on the Top 3. |
3 |
Quake (N64) By Midway |
Don't worry, Quake fans. If you want more, just wait a few more months. Quake II is on its way. |
| There is no Top 5 Shooter Games chart in the Top Games section. However, the top Shooter game (on both the Favorite Top 10 and Most Wanted Top 10) is shown in the Shooter Section. | ||
| Be sure to check out the Sci-Fi Section. There, you can get information on recently released sci-fi games, future sci-fi games, rumored sci-fi games, Japanese sci-fi games, and re-released sci-fi games. The section is updated once or twice a month.
As you may have noticed, most sci-fi games tend to be action or action/adventure games. Some, however, can be adventure (Body Harvest [N64] or Secret of Evermore [SN]), role-playing (Chrono Trigger [SN] or EarthBound [SN]), sports (F-Zero X [N64] or Teleroboxer [VB]), and others (Star Trek: Starfleet Academy [SN] or Mario's Time Machine [N and SN]). Some sci-fi games coming up (that are not action games) are: Hybrid Heaven (N64) and EarthBound 64 (N64). Be sure to check out the NCL Section. There, you can get information on recently released NCL games, future NCL games, rumored NCL games, Japanese NCL games, and re-released NCL games. The section is updated once or twice a month. NCL stands for "Nintendo Company Ltd." All NCL games are developed and sold by Nintendo. Be sure to check out the Cinema Section. There, you can get information on recently released cinema games, future cinema games, rumored cinema games, Japanese cinema games, and re-released cinema games. The section is updated once or twice a month. Cinema games include both games based on movies and TV shows. There were many cinema games released in 1998, but the ones shown here are the most popular. Be sure to check out the new Shooter Section. There, you can get information on recently released shooter games, future shooter games, rumored shooter games, Japanese shooter games, and re-released shooter games. The section is updated once or twice a month. Shooter games are a special kind of an action game. Whereas most action games have a side-scrolling, overhead, or 3rd-person view, shooter games have a 1st-person view so that it appears as if you are holding the gun, knife, or whatever. Games like this include Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Doom 64, Duke Nukem 64, and GoldenEye 007. Usually a shooter game will either be rated T (Teen) or M (Mature) because of realistic violence. Several games now have special Game Profiles. These special Game Profiles are only for the biggest and best of a given month. Check out the ones that are already on KNP:
