Diamond In The Rough, Part 11

by Majestrix Verone Windrider

Logan walked into the waiting area of the Olive Garden. "Masterson, party of two." He said to the host.

He smiled stiffly. "Come this way." He led Logan to a table overlooking the metro Los Angeles area. He thanked him and tipped him a twenty.

"Thank you sir!" The man said excitedly as he walked away.

Logan looked at his watch. It was seven fifty nine. He busied himself with chomping on breadsticks and looking at the twinkling lights of the city below.

"Hello Logan." A quiet voice said behind him. He turned his head and smiled.

"Right on time Ororo." He stood and gave her a chaste kiss on the cheek. "You look wonderful." She was wearing a modest ruby twin set, with white capris and wedge sandals.

"Thank you Logan, as do you." He helped her into her chair as a waiter came over.

"What can I get for you?" She asked cheerfully. Ororo looked at the menu.

"I'll have the cheese lasagna, with cut asparagus."

"I'll have the chicken primavera and fettuccini alfredo."

Logan said, putting down his menu.

"Any drinks?"

"I'd like a glass of Peach Zinfandel…how about you Logan?"

"Do you have Canadian beer?" He asked.

"Yep. Brand new."

"I'd like that then."

"Wonderful. There will be about fifteen minutes for the cheese lasagna."

"That's fine." The waitress left and Ororo turned to Logan.

"So, how have you been?"

"I'm doing good. I don't know if I told you I was an architect or not, but business is great."

"Let me guess. Masterson Architect and Construction?"

He was surprised. "Yes…how did you know?"

"I have a job you might want to consider." She handed him a folder.

Logan looked over it as their food came. "So, what's this for?"

"I want two schools built."

"Why would you want to do that?" He asked as he looked at the price tag.

"For reasons that might remain my own…"

"You're a mysterious woman `Ro."

"There is a lot you don't know about me." Ororo mused as she sipped her wine.

"Well, that's true." Logan set aside the folder and looked at his food.

"I would like a building on the east coast. Can you do that?"

"Yeah. All over the world. The east coast isn't a big deal." He said as he chewed.

"Wonderful." They ate in relative silence, content with the close proximity.

Dinner was over, and Logan was preparing to order desert, when Ororo stopped him. "What is it?"

"I thought perhaps we could have dessert at my house. I have some genuine New York cheesecake…"She smiled.

"Okay, that suits me fine." Logan paid the bill and they drove to Ororo's house, in their separate cars.
