Ororo pulled up and sighed. Home. Finally. Picking up her briefcase, she let herself in and sat it down on her desk in her office. She looked up as Lynda walked in with a glass of lemonade. "Good after noon ma'am. Is there anything you require?"
"No Lynda, thanks." She said as took the lemonade. "Any messages?"
"Mrs. Frost called. That's all."
"Okay, thanks. I'll call you if I need anything." Lynda nodded and left quietly.
Ororo walked over to her desk and sat down, drinking the cool drink. She picked up the phone and dialed a number. "Hello?"
"Hello Emma. How are you?" She asked, getting up and going to her briefcase. She brought out some folders and placed them by the fax machine.
"I'm doing fine. I picked up all of the required permits today. A lot of running around, I'll tell you." The cool mannered blond replied.
"I bet. How's Sean?"
"He's doing wonderfully. He's in Scotland right now, renovating the Keep, should be back in a week or so."
"That's nice. I found an architectural firm that will suit our needs wonderfully. I just hope they don't mind us getting back with them so late." Ororo opened a file and started to fax it. "You'll get it in a minute."
"Well, who are they?"
"Masterson Architects and Construction."
"Ah, I'm getting the file now." A quiet rustling was heard. "Perfect credentials. They did Malibu Park Mall and Crystal Waters Building in Santa Monica? I've been in to the Aldrich building here in Boston. They did a wonderful job on it. I hope they do accept."
"So do I, his construction time is reputed as being one of the best, and he's intriguing." Ororo said before she could stop. "You've already met him? And from your tone, I can guess it wasn't to talk about the proposal. Spill it."
"There is nothing to spill Emma. He's good at what he does, and he's a wonderful person to be around." She said as she rubbed her temples.
"That's good enough for me. I'll tell the board that you've narrowed down prospects. Tell me if the deal fall through."
"Of course."
"I'm going to have to go. I've got tons of papers to sign with my attorney." Emma said regrettably.
"That's fine. I have a lot of work myself. Bye Emma." Ororo smiled into the phone.
"Bye." She hung up the phone and sat back looking at it. With another sigh she dialed Logan's work number.
Logan smiled. "She's beautiful. I'm telling you, legs that go on forever, and her hair…"
"Her hair?" Victor asked quizzically as he handed him a demolitions report.
"Yeah, it's like a silvery white."
"Sounds interesting. We'll be ready to demolish the building Tuesday." Victor grinned.
"Good. I'll need something to blow up. " Logan sat down in his chair heavily.
"I'm guessing you're over Jean."
"Yeah."
"You realize she played you like a finely tuned instrument."
The larger man said, cocking his eyebrow.
"Yeah."
"As long as you know runt. So why don you need to blow something up?"
"Because she hasn't called in about five days. I gave her my number so its not that…do you think I should call her? She could have lost it."
"Damn." Victor laughed.
"What?!"
"She blew your nose wide open. I could probably start excavation on your nasal cavity."
Logan burst out laughing. "Is it that obvious?"
"Anyway. She'll call."
"I think I might have scared her off…" Logan said. "You know all this magnetic animal attraction can easily overwhelm the fairer sex."
Victor's booming laugh could be heard down the hall. He found his way to the door and walked out. He burst out laughing again as soon as the door closed, and continued down the hall.
Logan sighed as he went over the report he was given. All of a sudden, the phone rang. "Hello?"
"Logan? It's Ororo."
"Hey. I'm glad you called." Logan smiled, the report forgotten.
"I'm sorry it took so long. I had a hectic schedule that left me drained. I wondered if you would be interested in business and pleasure tonight?" Ororo smiled.
"That would be great. Where did you have in mind?"
"How about the Olive Garden? Casual, of course." She laughed slightly. "Will you get the reservations?"
"No problem. How about eight?" Logan asked, excitement coursing through him.
"Wonderful."
"Can I pick you up?" He asked hopefully.
"I'll drive myself. No offense, but I am just a bit weary."
"It's okay, I understand. I'll see you tonight."
"Great. I can't wait." Relief was evident in her voice.
"Bye Ororo."
"Goodbye Logan." The dial tone screamed in his ear as a large smile spread over his face. He hung up the phone and basically spend the next hour staring at the report, but any and all thoughts on Ororo.
