Knight Sabers 2040 Profiles

Here are short profiles of the new team and the episodes. Keep in mind that I have not seen the whole show and I am going by what I have seen so far, and my own interpretations that could be possible. I shall add more information as I watch the show.

Priss S Asagiri

The least changed of the characters from the old show, Priss is still the singing biker-chick with an attitude. She is more grim and distant the the original Priss and I think that fits well the character. She keeps up this front, but you can see a softer side of her when she is singing down by the docks. Priss is not afraid to let her opinions known and is quick to be annoyed. Especially by the new fan girl recruit, Linna.
Instead of Priss and the Replicants, she is now the lead singer of the industrial rock group Sekiria. At the beginning of the series, only her and Nene have been recruited by Sylia for the Knight Sabers. She is the only fighter on the team at this point since Nene is not much for the physical aspect of being a Saber. She is very aggressive in her fighting style; always going for the Boomer heart as soon as possible. They have kept the plotline that Priss had a lover that was killed and her singing reflects that loss. And yes, even in this incarnation, Leon is trying to win Priss' heart.

Sylia Stingray

Can we say that Sylia has even more issues then the original series? The calm and collective Sylia is gone now and is now replaced by a schizo. One minute Sylia is fine and normal, then the other times she is angry and emotional. She has violent outbursts at the mention of Genom or Boomers, or when she feels threatened. Example is when Mackey mentions that Priss and Nigel, the new resident mechanic, might have had a relationship.
Sylia is driven to stop Genom, but does care for the girls of the Knight Sabers. It is even mentioned that perhaps there was a team before the current roster. What happened to them remains a mystery. It is probably due to whatever happened that Sylia has not worn her Hardsuit until later in the series. Considering what has happened so far in the series, whether or not she is a Boomer, I really cannot say. But I am leaning towards it. What I don't get is what is with that hand gesture of hers, and why must she flirt with everything that moves?

Linna Yamazaki

And now on to the fan-girl! Linna comes to MegaloTokyo in search of finding and joining the Knight Sabers. She read all about them back home off in the country on the internet. Linna gets a job working for a company that has an affiliation with Genom and meets, well almost gets run over by Priss. It is here when her fascination with Priss and Priss' ambivalence towards her starts. Linna is determined to be better the the gifted and "special" Priss, as Nene puts it.
She has an idealistic view on life and looks at the Knight Sabers as some benevolent group that is here to help the city. She is also emotional and does take things personally, like when she is made fun of. Linna does have a strong heart and is brave when it comes down to it. She might not be the natural that Priss is in the Hardsuit, but she makes up for it in enthusiasm and a drive to train hard to become the best. Apparently, Linna is a skilled athlete in track and field back when she was at school. She does seem to have a lot of problems with her bosses hitting on her though. I guess there is no sexual harassment suits in the new Tokyo :o)

Nene Romanova

Nene is a dispatcher for the ADPolice and is still that lovable hacker. She is very outspoken to make up for her little demenor. She still is the weakest Knight Saber in terms of combat. She stays behind as Priss takes care of the Boomer and mostly jams transmissions and cheers Priss on! Later on though, Nene gets tougher and earns more combat time, eventhough she still gets clobbered and thrown around a lot. She joined the Sabers as Nene found Sylia breaking into one of Genoms servers and decided that making some extra money on the side might be nice. Nene also uses her resources to hid any video footage that the ADP gets during any of the Knight Sabers battles.
Nene has more of the comic relief part in the beginning of the show, but has her serious side when she comforts Linna's fears about joining the Knight Sabers. She has a kinda brother/sister relationship with Leon. Nene sees him as the tough brooding officer and likes to play with her Leon-Chan.
