"We do not live in this world alone, but in a thousand other worlds." - Another World Opening Line

Where have we been? Not sleeping that is for sure!!!!
"TAWA Premieres its Permanency"
By: Becky and Missy - TAWA Owners

Over the past 2 ½ months, many of you have noticed that TAWA hasn’t been doing anything.  Not so, we’ve been extremely busy.  The owners of TAWA decided to take a huge stand and bring Another World into the new millennium.

What does that mean you ask?  It means a lot!!!  We have spent this time setting up new features and services for you guys to use and enjoy.

Some of the exciting features include:

THE ANOTHER WORLD ANTHOLOGY ITSELF - The renovation of TAWA has given way to a theme.  Taking Another World into the New Millennium.  This theme along with the whole concept of Another World has been highlighted in our design.  Nothing is the same, as it was in November.  Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

TAWA FAQ - The Another World Anthology’s Frequently Asked Questions - Many of you haven’t taken full advantage of many of TAWA’s features and that is simply because you didn’t know what they were or how to use them!  Now you can learn the answers to these questions in TAWA FAQ - It outlines each feature with step by step directions.  This is especially exciting for those of you who are new to the computer scene.

UPDATES - We now have a page called updates, which will tell you exactly when and what is new at TAWA.  Nice for those of us who are in a hurryJ)))

THE CORY FAMILY ALBUM - This is a very exciting addition that many of you have been waiting for.  Go through years of photos, and celebrate events from Another World with these visuals.  Currently there are about 150 pictures from Another World on the site, but this is going to be expanding month by month.  Realize that this may take awhile to load so get yourself a beverage and enjoy.  Perfect for any Another World fan.

SAVE AW - This is a new feature.  TAWA is a strong supporter of CSAW (The Committee to Save Another World), and in light of that, we are able, with permission from CSAW, to bring you their latest news, events, happenings, and strategies to bring our show back into production.  Take a moment and see what you are missing, or get new information with just the click of a button.  This is a great addition for any Another World fan.

VIRTUAL BAY CITY - During TAWA’s renovation, Virtual Bay City has created over 15 new episodes.  We have a Thanksgiving Episodes, Christmas Episodes and Millennium Episodes, not to mention many that are in between.  The folks in Bay City have truly been busy, all sorts of events, love triangles, and trials have been going on.  Don’t miss out on this fun fan fiction.  Our writers have truly been busy.  We will be also producing a special Valentine’s Episode for all fans to enjoy.  Also during our renovation, we must say that Virtual Bay City has become a separate entity from the roleplaying game.  The writers are Virtual Bay City, and our game players are just enjoying all the fun of playing a game.  A must for any Another World fan, missing the show and dying for more.

HISTORY - We now have plenty of new character biographies up and posted in the History section of TAWA.  There are also a few memorable storylines to remember in this section.  Finally, we have kept the comprehensive character list.  This is guaranteed fun for anyone who is true to Bay City and its history.  It is just like a walk down memory lane.

FUN, GAMES AND CONTESTS - Wow, this was interesting to create, it was also a lot of fun.  We now have crossword puzzles, word searches, a simply fun stress free roleplaying game, and trivia contest.  The roleplaying game is a brand new edition to TAWA.  Yes, we did have roleplay before, but it was to write Virtual Bay City episodes, now, you can roleplay just for the sheer fun of it without having to have all these production stresses.  The trivia contest awards prizes every three months to the six players with the highest scores.  Here there is truly something for every Another World fan to relax with.

FAN FICTION - Quite a few fans have written stories and poems about Another World, and its characters.  They are all posted here.  Not to mention, you can write up your own fiction, and we will publish it on the web for all to see. This is an exciting feature for the Another World Fans dying for more, and for the writers out there.

CHAT - Okay, so you caught us.  Chat isn’t a new feature, but it has new qualities.  Amongst them are a new, less restricting chat room.  Of course, we also have many, new chat topics too.  Weekly chats are held on Tuesday Nights at 8PM Central Standard Time. Don’t let this restrict you, the chat room is open twenty four hours a day seven days a week.  An excellent feature for those of you who love to talk.

The DISCUSSION GROUP is old also, but we have made some renovations to make it more chattier. We will have weekly discussion topics along with the ability to discuss any aspect of Another World.  The owners will be forwarding some new and exciting Another World information as soon as it reaches our hands.  This feature will no longer be associated with Bay City Bylines our newsletter.  Also a great source for interaction.

MESSAGEBOARD/FORUM - Tired of your favorite messageboards dying down or disappearing?  Well are messageboard isn’t. Feel free to post away, and share conversations with other fans on our new interface.  A wonderful addition for all Another World Fans who love to communicate.

ANOTHER WORLD POLLS - We also have a new poll interface.  Each week we will have a new and exciting poll up for fans to vote on.  After much thought, we feel that we have come up with some really interesting poll topics.  This is perfect for those who love to put their two cents in.

FREE ANOTHER WORLD ANTHOLOGY EMAIL ADDRESSES - You heard it here first!!! Tired of all those jokes and phony virus warnings clogging up your email?  Tired of being bothered about other topics when you just want to hear about Another World in one box?  Well you have come to the right place.  Get your own personal, free email account from The Another World Anthology.  It will be yourname@TheAnotherWorldAnthology.zzn.com.  Enjoy this new feature.

CLASSIFIED ADS - Looking for the final episode?  The episode where Jake and Vicky get married?  Have episodes or memorabilia that you want to trade?  Make a posting in our NEW classified ads section.  If you need anything this is an excellent resource for fans who love to add to their collection at a less costly price.

TAWA-ANNOUNCEMENT LIST - Sick and tired of waiting to find out when TAWA updates something, anything?  Well just have us email you personally when something new is going on at TAWA or with Another World, or its actors and actresses.  This is another free service which is guaranteed to keep Another World fans up to date just by reading their email.

GREETING CARDS - Is it mothers day and you forgot to snail mail a card that counts?  Never fear, just go to TAWA and send her an Another World card with authentic pictures, backgrounds and even music.  This is a great feature to give other fans cards on their special days and occasions.  Don’t miss out.  It is completely free.

AND WE HAVE TOPPED ALL THIS OFF WITH… A CARTOON OF THE DAY - This is probably the only feature at TAWA that doesn’t have to do with Another World.  We all need a break to view something cute or funny each day.  Check it out.

We hope that you love what we have done with the place.  It took a lot of hard work, but once again we are pleased with the results.  It also proves to you that TAWA will be around for a long time and is truly a home to any Another World fan.  Check it out:  The Another World Anthology.

Spotlight on Ada Hobson
By: Missy

Ada Hobson was a single mother raising her daughter Rachel on her own after Gerald Davis, Rachel's father deserted them when Rachel was just an infant.  Besides raising Rachel, Ada was also supporting her younger
brother Sam Lucas by working long hours as a manicurist.

Ada's second husband was Ernie Downs, a goodhearted mechanic, who Sam had worked for and looked up to as a father figure. Ada and Ernie bonded as a result of their mutual concern for Sam.  Rachel had a condescending attitude towards Ernie and never did accept him as a  stepfather.

Ada had to deal with Rachel' shenanigans like leaving Russ, fooling around with Steve Frame, getting pregnant with Steve's child but when Steve wouldn't believe it was his, trying to get back with her husband Russ Matthews.

Gerald Davis came back onto the scene from time to time always causing problems.  When Ada found out he was back in town, she went to tell him that Rachel was a female version of him - a liar and a cheat.

Ada's third husband was Gil McGowan.  Gil was a fatherly parole officer who was assigned to Ted Clark, Ada's son-in-law.  After Ted got out of prison and saw his wife Rachel was after Steve Frame again, he divorced her.  Gil and Ada became close over their mutual concern for Ted.  Soon after, Gil left the parole office to become a lieutenant on the Bay City police force.  Ada and Gil had a "change-of-life" daughter named Nancy.  Gil was killed in Bolivia, in a mine explosion, with his younger son Tim.

Ada's fourth husband was Charlie Hobson.  Steve Frame's brother Vince began operating a fix-it shop in Ada's garage and took on a partner Charlie Hobson.  Charlie turned out to be the estranged father of Clarice Hobson who was living at Ada's.  Ada let Charlie stay at her house.  At the time, Ada was spending time with Jim Matthews who became jealous of Charlie when he was misled by his sister-in-law Liz that the living relationship between Ada and Charlie was "romantic".  Of course when Ada found out about this, she let Liz have it.  Eventually, Ada and Charlie did marry.  However, Ada would outlive another husband.  Charlie died of a heart attack during the time that Rachel was in jail for the death of Mitch Blake, even though Mitch Blake wasn't dead.

Ada had different jobs through the years.  She opened a hair salon.  She also had a restaurant.  She was not afraid of work.  Her younger daughter Nancy as a teenager reminded Ada of Rachel - vain, sharp-tongued, and obsessed with wealth.  Ada and Nancy eventually moved into the Cory Mansion with Rachel, Mac, and children.

Ada was the "mother earth" of the family.  She was the one who always "told it like it was."  Ada pulled no punches.  She was brutally honest and very affectionate to her loved ones.  Ada was the perfect example of maternal common sense.  She could always see the good in the bad especially when it came to Rachel who caused her mother many anxieties through the years.

When Ada's portrayer, Constance Ford passed away in 1992, Another World had Ada die as well.  Similar to when Douglass Watson had died in 1989, Another World knew the fans would never accept another actress portraying Ada.  Constance Ford was Ada and could never be replaced.  At her memorial on the show, Ada's family described her as "tough, funny, full of love and loyalty" and a woman who always "said that one right truthful thing that made whatever problem you had manageable."

Life With Vicky
Part One
By: Danielle

Vicky is standing in her room, staring in the mirror. Jake walks in from the bathroom. Vicky continues to look in the mirror in a daze, turning to the side to see what that looks like.
Jake: Hey, Vick do you think you could pass me my pants?
There is no response. Jake waves his hand in front of Vicky's eyes. She quickly snaps out of her daze.
Vicky: Oh, hi. Where did you come from?
Jake: The shower.
Vicky: Well that sounds fun.
Jake: It was. Do you think you could...
Vicky: Jake, do you think this dress makes me look fat? I must have gained so much during that pregnancy. I used to wear white, well. Now it makes me look like an elephant.
Vicky starts to cry. Jake puts the pome of his hand on Vicky's cheek and lifts up her chin.
He looks deep into her eyes and smiles.
Jake: You Victoria McKinnon are always beautiful, whether you're big or small. Besides, I love that motherly look on you; it's very appealing.
Vicky: Jake, you say that now, but wait till you crawl into bed with it.
Jake: Hey, I had dreams about crawling in bed with you when you were in the hospital, and you look better than I could have ever imagined you.
Vicky: Well if your trying to be charming, it's working.
Jake: Vick, I'm serious, you are the most beautiful woman, mother. You are the most beautiful mother in the world.
Vicky: I love you. How did I ever get so lucky?
Jake: I got lucky. I got lucky that day I spit a spitball at you in grade one. I wish I had known how lucky I was to have you.
Vicky kisses Jake, and Jake slides his pants on.
Jake: I have to go now sweetie. I can drop the boys off at school, and the twins are visiting Nana today, I can take them too!
Vicky: I love you. Good luck on finding a replacement for Chris.
Jake: No one can replace Chris, he is my best friend, next to you of coarse.
Vicky: Well good.
The boys come running down the stairs.
Vicky: I want good bye kisses.
Steve and Kirk: But mom.
Vicky: Now.
Steve and Kirk both kiss Vicky on opposite sides of the cheek, (Kirk on the left, Steve on the right.)
Vicky: Have fun at school, and I want kisses from the rug rats too!
Jake goes to get the twins. Vicky kisses them both on the forehead.
Jake: Well that's everyone, let's go guys.
Vicky: Wait, I didn't get a kiss from all my boys.
Jake: That's right, come to papa.
Steve: Oh brother. I'm going to wait out in the car, you coming Kirk?
Kirk: Ya, do they ever stop?
Jake: Not as long as I can help it.
Steve and Kirk go outside. Jake gives Vicky a peck on the cheek.
Jake: See you around five.
Jake leaves, the house is empty, and Vicky feels very alone.
Vicky: Maybe I should call someone, but who? (Vicky is in deep thought. Then her face lights up.) I've got it! I will call Paulina.

Vicky picks up the phone and dials Paulina's phone number. It rings twice and then Joe answers the phone.
Joe: Hello.
Vicky: Hey Joe, its Vicky, is Paulina around, or are you two lovebirds busy?
Joe: I wish we were, but Paulina is way into her soaps right now. It's like she's in another world.
Vicky: Do you think she would want to talk or...
Joe (cutting her off): I'll go get her now.
Vicky starts to fiddle with the telephone cord, as she waits unpatiently for Paulina to pick up the phone.
Paulina: Hey, Vick, what's up?
Vicky: Uh, nothing, except for the fact that I am way too fat for my own good.
Paulina: Whoa, someone needs a self-esteem boost, I'll be right over.
Vicky: Thank Paulina.
Paulina: Anytime!
Vicky is sitting on the couch, anticipating the arrival of Paulina. There is a knock at the door. Vicky runs over to the door, to find Paulina, standing on her porch with two big tubs of chocolate ice cream.
Vicky: Just what I need, some ice cream so I can grow even bigger!
Paulina: Hey don't complain, you're smaller than I was when I had Dante, and you were pregnant with twins!
Vicky: I guess your right.
Paulina: Now we have to work on making you feel better about your weight. I remember after I had Dante I was so obsessed with my weight I bought weight loss pills off Cindy, so that's why we have to make you happy.
Vicky: I remember that, how could I forget? You ran over Kirk and you almost killed him.
Paulina: Don't remind me, I felt awful!
Vicky: I know you did.
There is an awkward silence. Paulina glances down at her watch, and then at Vicky, with an apologetic looks on her face.
Paulina: Look Vick, I am so sorry but, I have got to get to Carlino's, but we'll talk tomorrow.
Paulina grabs her coat, and Vicky and Paulina walk to the door together.
Paulina: Bye, see you tomorrow.
Vicky: Yep see you then.
Vicky waves goodbye to Paulina and then shuts the door. She turns around and scans the room.
Vicky: Well, when Paulina took weight loss pills she couldn't control herself right? Well I'm sure I could handle it. I mean I'm a stronger person then she is, but who can I get them from?
She stops for a minute to think, then she smiles devilishly.
Vicky: Cindy, I will get them from Cindy. Where did I put her phone number?
Vicky searches frantically around the room.
Vicky: Gotcha.
She lifts it up and smiles.
Vicky: I've got so much dirt on you Cindy that you will have to get me those pills, no matter how it harms you.

Jake is at the Herald, waiting for his first interview to come. He is very bored, as he looks around his office, he sees a picture of him and Vicky.
Jake: I can call Vicky.
Jake picks up the phone and dials the cottage number. The phone rings three times before Vicky picks up.
Vicky: Hello?
Jake: Hello beautiful, what took you so long?
Vicky: I was on the other line, sorry.
Jake: That's okay, were you talking to Paulina? You two almost never pick up beeps when you're on the phone together, well you know. You don't seem to care about our world, just yours!
Vicky: Ya, well you know me too well!
Jake: And the problem with that is?
Vicky: Absolutely nothing. Hey wait a minute, shouldn't you be interviewing people now?
Jake: Yes, but the guy is late. I should probably go now; I just called to say I love you.
Vicky: I love you to. Bye.
Jake: Bye.
Jake hangs up the phone. He hears someone walk in and slowly lifts his head. It is a tall dark man, wearing a black trench coat and hat.  He has deep brown eyes, and a cold face.
Man: Hello, you must be Jake McKinnon, I'm Charles Heffernan.
Jake: Glad you could come Charles, I've been waiting for you all morning. You're late.
Charles: Well I take you haven't found a replacement for Chris Madison anyway so why don't you just give me the job, you know I'm good.
Jake: The job is yours. Hey wait, don't I know you from somewhere?
Charles: I will be here tomorrow, say nineish?
Jake: sounds good.
With that Charles, flew out of the office, not even caring about Jake's question.
Jake: What have I gotten myself into?

The school halls are quiet, until the bell rang. Steve and Kirk are walking down the hallway, in a very serious conversation.
Kirk: I say we sell 'em!
Steve: So Jake can hate us more? Not a smooth move.
Kirk: Well we gotta do something, we just gotta. Mom is spending more time with the twins, and as nice as it is to not be the baby anymore, I HATE NOT SPENDING TIME WITH mom and Jake.
Kirk is very emotional about this subject, and so is Steve. Steve takes Kirk to a corner, where they can have some privacy.
Steve: Look Kirk, you think I like not talking with Jake, and well being bugged by mom? Maybe we should talk to them! They are human, they'll understand.
Kirk: You're right, look, I'm going to be late for class, see you at home.
Steve: Ya bye!
Once Steve can no longer see Kirk he mutters to him self.
Steve: There has to be a way Kirk, I don't wanna lose mom again.

Vicky is sitting in the cottage drinking tea. There is another glass set out at the coffee table. There is a loud knock at the door. Vicky slowly gets up and walks over to the door. Standing at the door is Cindy, with her shirt buttoned up the wrong way, and a jacket thrown on? She has no make up on and is only wearing one shoe.
Vicky: Hello Cindy, I trust you have the stuff?
Cindy: Right here (she holds up a zip lock bag full of little round white pills.) What do you need these for anyway?
Vicky: Cindy lets get one thing straight. My life is none of your business. Now I won't tell Joe about this little incident if you just leave me alone.
Cindy: Will do, there is just the small matter of my pay. Cough it up sister.
Vicky: First of all, don't call me sister, and second of all I owe you nothing.
Cindy: Fine, your right, just be careful okay, and if you take more than 1 of those you could really sick.
Vicky: Cindy just shut up and leave. I know you don't care, so stop pretending you do.
Cindy: Fine I'll go.
Vicky slams the door in Cindy's face and runs over to the kitchen to get a glass of water. She takes out four pills and pops them in her mouth, and swallows.
Vicky: Here's to being thin.
Vicky suddenly feels faint and falls to the ground, with the bag still in hand.

Steve and Kirk are waiting outside for Jake to come and pick them up.
Steve: Okay, here he comes, you know the plan, we get him to leave the twins at Nana's so we can have a talk with him and mom, got it?
Kirk: Got it!
Steve and Kirk get into Jake's car.
Steve: Hey Jake!
Kirk: How ya doing?
Jake: good and you two?
Steve and Kirk: Were fine!
Kirk: I was wondering, do you think you me mom and Steve could have dinner just the four of us?
Steve: Yeah no twins!
Jake: I guess that could be arranged I'll just have to ask your mom. Her favorite soap should be on now so why don't I give her a call on my cell?
Steve and Kirk: Sounds good!
Jake picks up his phone and dials the cottage. He gets the answering machine.
Jake: Something's not right, I know she gets into those things, but if she thought I was calling she'd pick up the phone.
Jake drives faster, on his way to the cottage. He runs up the stairs to the door, and opens it.
Jake: Honey, I'm home.
There is no answer.
Jake: Vicky, sweetheart, I'm here.
Jake runs into the kitchen to find Vicky lying on the ground. He feels her pulse.
Jake: Steven. Kirkland, we need to get the hospital NOW! (To Vicky) It's okay Vick; you'll be okay.
