On September 10, 1996 at about 5:00 in the morning, the world stopped for a moment. Because it was at that moment that another soul was released from it's body. But this wasn't just any soul, it was a friend of everybody, Sarah Sage.
She had gone out for a ride with some of her friends a couple nights earlier driving to fast for conditions and an inexperienced driver didn't see the curve ahead. The car went off the road and wrapped its self around a tree. The impact tore the car apart taking off the passengers side and throwing Sarah from the car. Her seat belt didn't save her, so it seemed nothing could.

After day's of unconsciousness in the hospital with a blood clot in her neck, she died. And left a hole in this world, that no one could fill. The next day this was in the obituaries along with the above picture. SAGE, SARAH M.

People from all around came to the wake and the funeral, students from many area high school, neighbors, and relatives. Everyone's emotions are summed up in a poem by her friend Jim Potter..
To all of her friends, Sarah was a ray of light on a cloudy day. She was always there to cheer you up when you were down. Almost nothing could dampen her spirit when she was in a good mood (all of the time).
Sarah always had the time to lend a supportive shoulder to cry on. She was a sympathetic listener whenever you needed someone to talk to. Her energy and spirit were contagious; she created an epidemic of happiness wherever she went.
The yearbook staff is not quite the same without her colorful interpretations of life at Minooka High School. Sarah's unique point of view could be quite entertaining to those who knew her well. Sarah will never be forgotten; in a sense she is not really gone at all. The good times that she shared with her friends, like going to the movies, to parties, or just hanging out and blasting her stereo as it played her favorite band, Metallica, will never be erased. As long as her friends keep the memories of her alive in their hearts. She will remain as immortal as the vampires that she so enjoyed reading and writing about.
Her joyful laugh is etched in the minds of all who cared for her. Sarah's spirit will live on the hearts of her friends; she will be greatly missed.
