There seemed to be a party going on in Samantha's hospital room when Madison and Micky entered it the next day. As the rounded the curtain separating the room they heard Davy's distinct accent and Diana soft-spoken voice. Then they heard a voice they hadn't heard in over a year, at least not in person.
"Michael!" Madison exclaimed rushing in and throwing her arms around his neck. He had grown a beard and his skin was bronzed but other than that he hadn't changed much in the past year.
"Hey darlin'!" He swarmed her in his arms in a familiar brotherly hug.
"What are you doing here, man?" Micky hugged him also.
"Sammi called me about the baby." He explained. "I came to get Robbie and Maria for a couple of weeks."
"You look good." Micky commented.
"Thanks."
"This is great." Madison beamed. "We're all together again, at least for a little while."
"Is everything okay?" Samantha asked Madison with a knowing look.
"Everything is wonderful." Madison smiled, giving her hand a squeeze. "Should we tell them?" She looked at Micky.
"Yeah, having everyone here is going to save a fortune in phone calls." He laughed.
"Tell us what?" Peter asked.
"We're moving to England." He explained.
"What?" Davy asked.
Micky went on to explain everything that had happened in the past month. "It won't be forever. We're going to keep the house here so we'll always having someplace to come home to."
The received congratulations and hugs from everyone. Afterwards, they all talked and caught up with each other until a nurse came in to shoo everyone out of the room. Davy, Diana, Madison and Micky left leaving Mike, Peter and Samantha alone.
"Pete, could I have a couple of minutes alone with Sammi?" Mike asked.
"Sure thing, Mike." He walked over and kissed Samantha. "I'll go get some coffee."
After he had left, Mike walked closer to the bed. "She really is beautiful." He smiled down at Melody who was sleeping in her mother's arms.
"Thank you." Samantha glowed. "And thanks for picking up the kids. You're going to have a great time with them."
Mike was quiet for a few moments and finally looked up at her. "It's really over between us, isn't it?" He brushed the back of his hand across her cheek.
"Yeah, baby, it is." She choked back the tears. "But I'll never regret what we had."
"Neither will I." He kissed her softly on the lips and then walked out of the room. When the door closed behind him, it also closed the door to his heart. He knew he would never let anyone open it again.
