Chapter 5
Other dates followed this one. Each time, Micky acted as a perfect gentleman, not asking Nicole for more than she wanted to give. They really had a great time: they went dancing, saw the latest movies, went swimming, walked on the beach, got to know each other better. There were a lot of passionate kisses, but nothing more "physical". Nicole was living the charming days of a first love and was very happy. One night, Micky told her he had a lot of rehearsals because The Monkees were working very hard for the new album and when they finished, maybe it would be too late to go out. She understood and decided to go to the movies by herself. There was a new love film she wanted to see and as Micky didn't seem to like it, she thought it was the perfect time to go and see it. She asked Allison to go with her, as Davy would rehearse, too. The two girls went out to the movies together.
The phone rang at Allison's house. Mrs. Tracy answered.
- Hello? Hi, Davy... No, Allison's not here. She went to the movies with Nicole... Oh, you finished sooner than expected?... Oh, I see!... She'll be sorry she missed you... All right, I'll tell her! Bye!
Davy decided he might as well take this opportunity to rest. He had supper, took a bath, went to bed and read until he fell asleep.
Micky went out of the studio and ran into beautiful Brenda. He had dated that blond voluptuous girl a few times before he started going out with Nicole, and he kept fond memories of those nights. He was surprised to see the young woman:
- Brenda! You're in Canada?
- So are you!
- RCA Victor decided to record our new LP in Montreal. But what are YOU doing here?
- A Canadian producer saw one of my movies. He likes my acting and he wants me in his next movie. Micky thought: "Your acting is not the only thing he likes about you, I'd bet my head on it!"
Brenda asked Micky:
- Are you busy tonight?
Micky thought of Nicole, but what the heck, he wasn't engaged to her! Why shouldn't he date another girl from time to time? And Brenda was fun going out with and he knew that at the end of the evening, she would be willing to go to bed with him. He thought that after all these days of chastity, the warm body of a lover would be welcome. And after all, what Nicole didn't know couldn't hurt her.
- I'm your passionate admirer, milady. Where would you like to go tonight?
- There's a new movie called "Sweet Romance". I'd like to see it.
Micky didn't feel like seeing that movie. Just the title looked naively romantic. Once, Nicole had asked him to go to see that movie and he had refused. But with Brenda, it would be different. He knew, by experience, that when Brenda went to the movies with a guy, she took advantage of the darkness for necking. He asked her, with his sexiest smile:
- So, you feel like going to the movies?
She winked and answered:
- I do.
The movie had just begun when they arrived. They quickly found two seats in a row. Micky put his arm around Brenda's shoulders and bent his head to kiss her. The light of the camera illuminated his face a bit, just enough for the spectators behind to see. And those people happened to be Allison and Nicole. When Micky lifted his head after kissing Brenda, he could have seen them, but they were already gone. He never knew that Nicole spent the night crying over him.
The next day, he tried to reach Nicole. The phone kept ringing, but no answer. Finally, he got in touche with Allison who told him:
- Nicole is gone. Rejoice! You can date a new girl each night and make love as often as you want to. But I doubt you'll find somebody who will love you as much as Nicole did. Have a good day! And she hung up.
