New Nightmare 2
Scene 12

Josh starts to walk to his bed, but before he sits down he 
looks at it with disgust.

Josh
Let's go to the living room.

CUT

Josh settles onto the couch and rests his head back into his 
hands.  Candy looks at David unsure of herself, and then 
settles down next to her boyfriend trying to comfort him.  
David sits in the chair across from the couch.

David
Josh, what do you mean?
You still don't believe it's
Freddy?

Josh
It's not Freddy

Josh lifts his head from his hands and looks at David.

David looks straight back at David, waiting for an answer.

Josh
My dad was having the 
nightmares again...
And, he was writing again.
A Freddy script like no
other.  About a Demon who
travels through stories, 
and in doing such has come 
to possess the existance
of Freddy's story.

David
What the hell are you 
talking about.

Josh
The Demon is making Freddy 
real.  First he went after
Heather, now he has my father
trapped somewhere, and wants
to, I guess, torture him by
coming after me and my friends.

David
So it's not Freddy.

Josh
No, it's not.  The entire
script up until Heather beating
Freddy is in my father's study.

Candy
So Heather will beat Freddy, 
then.  So all we have to do is
stay awake until she does.

Josh starts to shake his head back and forth.  

Josh
I wish it was that easy, but
my dad would never write down
the actual ending he had in his
dreams.  He would always change
it for what he thought the 
viewer would want to happen, or
what would make the better movie.
Sometimes that would mean 
ignoring the ending of the 
nightmare entirely.

David
So we don't know how it ends
then after all.  As far as we
know this demon is unstoppable,
and coming after us.

Candy
Well, can't we find some way
to kill him.  I mean, if it's not
Freddy then maybe he will be
easier to kill.

Josh
According to the script this 
thing is damn near unstoppable...
The script says the only way to
stop him is to make another 
Nightmare on Elm Street and 
trap him in the movies again.

David
But if we make another movie,
that will only temporarily 
stop him.  I mean, once the 
movie kills off Freddy, then
the demon will be after us again.
Right?

Candy
What do you mean.

David
Well, How Wes wrote this, it
would be that the demon is 
unstopable, and that it can
only be trapped within movies.
Caught there, Right Josh?

Josh nods

David
Well, once the movies end, the 
trap is open, that is how he's
after us right now...
Okay, I'm not sure, is that how
it goes? 

Josh
That's basically it.  

David
So, say we were to make a movie
staring, you know who, well then
at the end of the movie, when we
would kill Freddy, then the 
Demon would be free to come after 
us.

Candy
Then why don't we make a movie
where Freddy wins.  He doesn't get
killed.

Josh
I don't know, I would be afraid 
that that may be what he wants.  
A movie where he wins.  Then he 
would have open season.

Candy
Well, lets give him what he wants.
Then he won't be coming after us.

David stands, and walks out of the room.  Josh and Candy 
silence themselves as he just leaves the room all of a sudden.  
Josh stands up, and Candy starts to follow, but Josh holds out 
his hand for her to stay.

Josh
I'm just going to see what is wrong
with him.  I'll be right back.

Josh stands up, and leaves the room, following David.

Candy sits there on the couch, letting out a long yawn.

CUT
