Roadside Assistance Scene 31-35 Revised 2/10/00 31. Int. Inside Officer 2’s car, Just after Dark Officer two is driving down the road, he has a tired, bored expression on his face. END OF SCENE 31 Flashback 32. Int. Inside Officer 2’s bedroom, Nightime-nearly a weak ago. Officer two is having a fight with his wife. Officer 2 I am not having a fucking affair. I work long hours. I am not at some fucking sluts, or anywhere else but work. Wife How can you stand there and lie to me. After all you are to me. After I had tried to give you a child. Officer 2 looks pained at the mention of the child. Officer 2 Why did you have to bring it up? Wife He isn’t an it. He died at birth. He was your son. Officer 2 He was our son, and you. you fucking killed him. You with your alcoholism. You couldn’t stop even for the pregnancy. The wife is beginning to cry. Wife Get out Officer 2 but Wife Just get the fuck out! END OF SCENE 32 33. Int. Inside Officer 2’s car, Just after dark-Present Establishing shot of the back seat with his suitcase. Yesterday’s clothes are scattered on the back seat. On top of his suitcase sit’s his shaving kit. He drives along the road, not knowing where he should go, or what is left of his life. He pulls into a Denny’s. He dials on a pay phone. Through the reciever Wife Hello? Officer 2 It’s me Wife What do you want Officer 2 To talk. Wife Well, you wasted a quarter. Officer 2 I love you Wife You should have thought about that before the slut. Officer 2 I know Wife What did she do, throw you out. Officer 2 She closed the door in my face. I have been living in my car. Wife Yeah...I’m sorry, but I can’t. I am just not ready yet. The line goes silent, then there is a click and the dial tone sounds. Officer 2 puts the reciever back onto the cradle, and starts to walk away. END OF SCENE 33 34. Ext. Car Wash, Half an hour later Officer 2 as he slowly pulls into the car wash. He slowly moves the car off into the dark corner of the parking lot under a tree. Close up of Officer 2 with the light illuminating only half of his face. Officer 2 Hell, I have nothing else to do Officer 2 starts to settle back to slip into a painful sleep in the front seat of his car. He yawns END OF SCENE 34 35. Ext. Outside Adam’s Apartment building, Nearly midnight. The Dark One is in the foreground, looking up at Adam’s apartment. The light goes out. The Dark Ones gaze shifts to the parking lot. The truck as the Dark One is getting in. Sparks from the wires as he hotwires the truck. The truck starts to move out onto the street. Moving down Des Plaines. The moonlight glows off of the tombstones of the Forest Park cemetary as the truck passes. The full moon, time lapse photography as the moon goes into a solar eclipse, where once the moon is covered it turns to blood red. Close up of the tail light as the brakes are applied. END OF SCENE 35 Scenes 36-40
