Welcome to Knights of Valor

Introduction

We are a role-playing group that currently play MW2 on Mplayer. We model ourselves after the Houses in FASA's Battletech books and games. These Houses are paramilitary groups, and therefore, we use a rank structure, chain of command and various military customs and courtesies. You must take the role of a House Warrior and perform your various duties to the best of your ability while trying to stay in character. If you go above and beyond your duty you will be rewarded, if you do not perform you duties you will reap the consequences. Please remember though that this is a game and if you should get disciplined, it is likely for a good reason, and try not to take it personally.

For Cadets (or Trainees)

As a cadet, you currently have no rank. You carry the crest of The Knights of Valor to distinguish you as our trainee, and are expected to conform to all Knights of Valor rules of conduct. Traditionally, cadets must endure intense training and will be expected to do so. In KV, cadets will learn mech tactics, and more importantly, KV rules, policy, codes of conduct, Honor, Respect and some House history. Please note that cadets are not allowed to participate in Honor Point wars within the League.

Knights of Valor Codes of Conduct

As a KV warrior it is your job to uphold our house name. Therfore it is your responsibility to follow this Code of Conduct at ALL times. Knights of Valor NEVER cheat, lie, backstab or make intentional use of vulgar language. Knights of Valor do however share tactical info with their brothers and help out other "gamers" should they have a problem. In donning the KV uniform you agree to abide by these terms and conditions and to strive to always uphold these Codes of Conduct.

The first thing I need to stress is that the use of profanity is NOT permitted. Anyone caught using any type of profanity will be giving a warning by the highest-ranking officer on scene. If you are caught using profanity a second time your actions will be reported to your unit commander and the Keshik for disciplinary actions. Even though this is a game we still want to maintain a level of professionalism, and remember you are representing a very proud and honorable house. Good natured taunting of your enemy is allowed to a certain level but you must know when taunting becomes insulting which is NOT allowed.

This final section deals with common courtesies when dealing with officers and enlisted personal. When entering a room or if an officer enters the room you should provide the appropriate greeting which is a salute by typing salute or <S>, followed by their names. Officers are instructed to try and gently remind those in the room what they are supposed to do. Should there be a situation/problem arise between 2 people in our house then they should follow their chain of command going to their Nova Commanders, if and only if this situation needs immediate attention then you may go above your Nova Commander if they are not around at that time. In certain situations a Nova Commander may deem it necessary to call a meeting of the round table which is the Keshik members. If this happens, the members of the round table will investigate the issue. The highest ranking Keshik present then may either impose appropriate punishment or send the results of the investigation "upstairs" to the Khan for resolution. Any issues settled by judgement of the round table shall be considered closed issues. The only recourse for appeal at this point is directly to the Khan, with the commanding officer of the investigation present. The Khan's decision shall be final. Before a dispute is brought before the Khan, ALL other alternatives should be exhausted. The Khan does not have the time to settle every little dispute in the Clan.

Trial of Position (ToP)

Recruit or Cadet ToP

(AKA cToP)

You will train with us and prepare for your Cadet Trial of Position commonly referred to as a cToP (see-top). If you pass, then you will be assigned your earned rank. Specific trial procedures are outlined later in this document. You may request the trial at any time that you feel you are ready, but we strongly suggest that you stick around as a trainee a little while just to get a feel for us and our ways before you commit yourself to this clan. Trainees and Recruits may remain in Cadet status for a maximum of 20 days. If you do not schedule a cToP by then, you will be dropped from the roster. Good Luck to you and remember that you are the future of The Knights of Valor. In your trial to earn a higher position you will be given a max of 65 ton mech. The trial will be fought in weapons class WC4. You must destroy at least one of the 3 mechs you will fight against. You must not overheat and explode, this results in a negative kill and ends the cToP. You will fight each oppenent one at a time calling the person or mech before engaging that mech. The mechs you will be going against will be a Jenner, a Stormcrow and a Timber Wolf. You only need to kill one mech to gain a position within our ranks. Most people will go for the Jenner to insure a position in our ranks. If you wish you can go for a Higher rank after the kill. Each consecutive mech you kill will result in a higher rank. To follow will be the Ranks you can earn from the kills.

1st Kill = 2nd Mechwarrior

2nd Kill = 1st Mechwarrior

3rd Kill = Star Commander

You will be allowed, if you so choose, to do a Mock Trial before you do the Real one to get the jitters out, and to get the feel for the Trial.

Standard ToP

Rules of Engagement (ToP)

The Knights of Valor wishes all warriors to excel within our ranks therefor we offer a Trial of Position option for everyone. The Command will base trials off of the League Warrior Stats listings for easy tracking. Please follow the procedure below.

  1. Acquire the correct amount of wars in a month to top the next rank above you.

  2. Request to Challenge the warrior that you wish to ToP. Do so at the weekly meeting even if that warrior is not at the meeting. Make your actions known to the highest in charge at the meeting. Then you must post your challenge on the BBS and Email the Khan, SaKhan and your opponent, the day you have challenged your opponent {which will be at the weekly meeting}.

  3. The Schedule for the war should be fought the following week after that nights meeting. Or unless other arrangements have been made to fight the war prior to the following meeting.

  4. The Challenger declares the class. The Defender declares the settings. All ToP's are first warrior to 5 kills on the Hud. The Top will be fought in the rank weight of the Defender or less. Therefore, the challenger should take it upon themselves to build or aquire a larger tonnage mech, prior to requesting his ToP.

  5. All ToP's will need a "referee". Any member of the Command can oversee this ToP as well as any of the Nova Commanders. Cadets are not allowed to ToP ranks due to the fact that they do not as yet have a permanent rank.

  6. You may not attempt to ToP a warrior whose is officially excused for any of the week between the announcement and the scheduled ToP.

  7. No one warrior can be challenged the same week by multiple opponents, 1 weeks time should pass before that Warrior/Defender can be challenged again for his spot.

  8. In the unlikely event the Defender does not show up for this scheduled Trial of Position. Then the challenger wins that spot by default, and both warriors will be switched in ranks. The only addendum to this is if either the Defender or the Attacker comes to the Command with a valid excuse that they will not be able to do the Trial of Position on that scheduled day. Then the ToP will be postponed for only 1 week. If the Defender does not show for the rescheuled ToP, the Attacker will receive this position. Permitting the excuse doesn't roll over into the following week.

The following are the number of wars to be accumulated in a month in order to issue a ToP challenge for the listed rank;

1st Mechwarrior--10

Star Commander--15

Star Captain--15

Star Colonel--15

Nova Commander--20

Nova Captain--25

Nova Colonel--30

Good luck KV warriors in your quest for greatness..

Rules of Engagement

***KNIGHTS DO NOT CHEAT***

Under NO circumstance will you knowingly deceive an opponent and use a cheat mech. This is dishonorable not only to yourself but the Knights of Valor as a whole and will not be tolerated. A cheat mech is any mech that you could not build using the game customizer or that is represented as a particular weapons class but does not follow the legal configuration for that class. Any warrior who is caught or is reported to have cheated will be investigated immediately and appropriate measures WILL be taken. If found guilty of willfully using a cheat mech, the Keshik may institute whatever punishment they feel is justified, including banning the warrior from Knights of Valor, banishment from the MPBL and sharing of information with other league clan keshiks.
