BECAUSE A WOMAN'S WORK IS NEVER DONE
AND IS UNDERPAID OR UNPAID OR BORING
OR REPITITIOUS AND WE'RE THE FIRST TO GET FIRED
AND WHAT WE LOOK LIKE IS MORE IMPORTANT
THAN WHAT WE DO AND IF WE GET RAPED
IT'S OUR FAULT AND IF WE GET BEATEN
WE MUST HAVE PREVOKED IT AND IF WE
RAISE OUR VOICES WE'RE NAGGING BITCHES
AND IF WE ENJOY SEX WE'RE NYMPHOS
AND IF WE DON'T WE'RE FRIGID AND IF
WE LOVE WOMEN IT'S BECAUSE WE CAN'T
GET A "REAL" MAN AND IF WE ASK OUR DOCTOR
TOO MANY QUESTIONS WE'RE NEUROTIC AND/OR
PUSHY AND IF WE EXPECT CHILDCARE WE'RE SELFISH
AND IF WE STAND UP FOR OUR RIGHTS
WE'RE AGGRESSIVE AND UNFEMININE
AND IF WE DON'T WE'RE TYPICAL WEAK FEMALES
AND IF WE WANT TO GET MARRIED
WE'RE OUT TO TRAP A MAN AND IF WE DON'T
WE'RE UNNATURAL AND BECAUSE WE STILL
CAN'T GET AN ADEQUATE SAFE CONTRACEPTIVE
BUT MEN CAN WALK ON THE MOON AND IF WE
CAN'T COPE OR DON'T WANT A PREGNANCY
WE'RE MADE TO FEEL GUILTY ABOUT ABORTION AND...
FOR LOTS AND LOTS OF OTHER REASONS
WE ARE PART OF THE WOMEN'S LIBERATION MOVEMENT.

When You Meet Gay/Bi/Lesbian People:Hints for the Heterosexual

  1. Do not run screaming from the room.
    This is rude.
  2. Do not assume they are attracted to you.
  3. Do not assume they are not attracted to you.
  4. Do not expect them to be as excited
    about meeting a heterosexual
as you may be about meeting a gay/bi/lesbian.
  5. Do not immediately start talking
    about girl/boyfriend in order to
make it clear that you are straight.
  6. Do not ask them how they got that way.
    Instead ask yourself
how you got the way you are.
  7. Do not assume that they are dying
    to talk about being gay/bi/lesbian.
  8. Do not expect them to refrain
    from talking about being gay/bi/lesbian.
  9. Do not trivialize their experience
by assuming it is a bedroom issue only.
    They are gay/bi/lesbian 24 hours a day.

PRIDE

Living between worlds
Only loved for an appearance
of approvable acts
For you, for your love and acceptance
I keep myself hidden
You've kept me in here too long
I need to break out
My point is not to disgrace you
but I want you to see me
It's dark and lonely in here and
I haven't seen sunlight in years
All that you love is an illusion
of what I could have been
I don't even exist in your world
I can only be shoved so far back in this closet
before I disappear
the day is drawing near
when i won't be seen in your mirrors
You have to love me or leave me
but I won't be the one to say good-bye.
