George M. Veitch, Co. F (Washington's Home Guard), 1st lt. Enl., 5/25/1861. Promoted, 11-12/1861 to cpl.;
4/20/1862, to lt. He was captured and exchanged, 9/21/1862 at Aiken's Landing, VA., for one Lt. J.F. Kent, 3rd U.S.
Infantry (this writer's former regiment). He was wounded, 5/23/1862, Cedarville, VA., and taken prisoner. He was at Front
Royal, VA. hospital, 5/30/1862, and later exchanged at Ft. Delaware, 8/5/1862. He was court-martialed, 1/30/1864, to loss of rank
and pay for 3 months, for "drunkeness and conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline." He was again captured, 6/11/1864,
at Louisa Court House, and held the remainder of the war. He was paroled, 6/16/1865, at Ft. Delaware.
Isaac A. Veitch, Co. F, cpl. Enl., 5/25/1861. Promoted, 11/12/1863, to cpl. He was captured at Spottsylvania Court House, VA.,
5/12/1864, and held in Elmira Prison, NY., the remainder of the war. He was paroled, 7/11/1865.
Richard A. Veitch, Co. F. Enl., 8/1/1862. He was court-martialed, 1/30/1864, for "absenting himself from his command without the
authority and remaining for the night." He was sentenced to 6 months hard labor but it was remitted. He was captured,
2/22/1864, at Snickersville, and imprisoned at Ft. Delaware. He was paroled 6/16/1865.
Robert S. Veach, Co. B (The Old Guard). According to family records, he served, but this writer has failed to find recorded evidence.
Drafted, 1862, age 13. He was wounded at Gettysburg, PA., 7/3/1863, and at Fisher Hill, VA., 9/22/1864.
7th Virginia Infantry:
James L. Kemper, colonel. He was promoted, 1862, to brigadier-general, and was given command of one of Pickett's Brigades in Longstreet's
Division. He was wounded and captured at Gettysburg, 1863, during Pickett's Charge. He was exchanged in 1864. He then served in a
staff position in Richmond, VA., to the close of the war. He later became the governor of VA.
10th Virginia Infantry:

at VMI. He graduated in 1867, number 186 of 295 students. He was also a member of the Home Guard Artillery Company, entering the unit in 1863.
Previous to this, he was a cadet at the Staunton Military Academy in 1861.
