VACATION
Buzz of activity;
Quick snatches of quiet time
on short nature walk.
Time in conversation;
Elusive time away from talkfast.
Inner thoughts pressed;
Attempt to meditate at midnite -
too tired.
Feel guilty sleeping late;
Desire to rise early.
Quiet spot in woods;
Careful!
Poison ivy and poison oak.
Oh, where can I find
solitude within?

Summer has been delightful! August is always our "busy" month with vacation and preparations for Shawn to get back to school. Amongst the "busyness," it is soooo important for me to take that special quiet time - to stay focused and receive nourishment and refreshment.

Autumn will be coming to center stage in a few weeks - for those of us in USA. For me, this is a time of beginning - to tie up loose ribbons still dangling, to complete projects - so the newness and excitement of 2000 can be experienced in its fullness.

LOOKING ON
It's exciting
Looking on yesterday
As in the past,
A precious memory
Or what's forgotten;
Looking on tomorrow
As in the future,
A gentle anticipation
Or ability now to change
The outcome;
Looking on today
As what I can do
With my right now.

LEARNING
If we are the rainbow, how can we see the colors? We invite learning for reminders of what is already ours.

Though we are our own teacher, sometimes mentors or specialists are sent our way to offer these reminders. Friends, teachers and advisors may come to us as white fluffy clouds. We play the game of identifying. When we have learned what they can offer as reminders, we each move on, taking our chosen wind current.

We find new expression of the rainbow with new clouds. We express our colors, a little brighter, for the next cluster of clouds passing through. We see our colors as reflection.
