THERMOMETERS! : )

WHAT IS A THERMOMETER AND WHAT DOES IT DO?

A thermometer is any thermally sensored intrument that is used to measure temperature. Thermometers measure their own temperature because they actually become the temperature of the air around them. The thermal sensors are always materials that are able to change when the temperature of the air changes.

You need to remember that thermometers indicate their OWN temperature. For example, if you put one thermometer in the shade and one in the sun, thought the air temperature is actually the same, the one in the sun will show a warmer temperature than the one in the shade since it is absorbing the suns warmth.

Calibrations are the lines on the thermometer that tells you what the temperature is. Most thermometers are marked in either FAHRENHEIT, CELSIUS, or both.
