The Desert

Prior to moving to New Mexico I was like most and thought of the desert as a desolate and dangerous place. I never considered that it could also be beautiful. The desert must be respected. To venture into it without proper clothing, water, and other supplies is asking for trouble; big trouble. However, with the proper gear, spending time in the desert is like walking through the Discovery Channel.

During the day the desert is filled with colors.

At night it can grow cold in more ways than one. Because my home is virtually in the desert I am blessed with frequent visitors. On any given day I can see a wide variety of wildlife from birds to coyotes. Cottontails and Jack Rabbits are daily visitors. And, on those special days, an eagle will fly over so low you can look it in the eye.
