There's
just something about orange tabby cats. I don't know what
it is. Even though they are thought of as a 'common' type
of cat they are anything but. I've never known another
type to be more intelligent, curious, loving or
mischevious! They are just special. Some of the best
companion cats I've ever had were orange tabbies. These
are some of my most recent 'individuals'. Buford
was brought into PETsMART by his rescuer one day while I
was there for adoptions. He was found on the side of the
road curled up next to his mom who had been killed by a
car. He was 5 weeks old. Joey and I sneaked this by Skip
into the house! Joey bottle fed him and paid for all his
care. Buford is an orange tabby, but his skin has a
blueish tinge to it which makes him look blue/gray. Very
interesting looking. Buford is up for adoption if you're looking for a special kind of
companion.

We
were living in Manassas Park and Christmas was coming.
Skip asked me what I wanted for a gift and of course I
said a kitten. He grumbled but, soon agreed. Meanwhile
some neighbors had moved and left Sinbad sitting on their
front porch. He started coming over to my house to eat in
the mornings and evenings. He loved the neighborhood kids
and would hang around the bus stop waiting for them to
come home from school. Everyone seemed to like him but,
no one would give him a home. The weather turned really
cold that year, it was about 10 degrees outside and this
poor cat had no where to go. I came home one night to
find him squished in my door. I
really wanted a kitten but, I just couldn't justify
getting one and leaving this poor guy outside in the
cold; so a few days before Christmas Skip relented and in
came the cat. Sinbad made a beeline for the Christmas
tree and proceeded to spray all the presents! He was
eaten up with fleas too. A quick trip to the vet for
bathing, shots and NEUTERING did the trick and we've had
Sinbad ever since. I would have to wait for a kitten but
not for long!
