Tip 03: X-Files Glow Effect

Step 1:
- New document (RGB mode)
- Set Background = black (fill black in background)
- Click Type tool to create some text.
Step 2:
- Hold Control key and click on your type's layer to add a selection around
your text
- Select Menu-->Save selection, name channel "Black Type"-->lick
OK
Step 3:
- Go to Channel palette where you'll see your saved selection (name "Black
type") It's selection will still be active. Click on it.
- Duplicate this channel. Double click on it and name it: "White glow".
- Don't deselect yet !
Step 4:
- Under Select menu-->Modify-->Expand. Enter 2 (pixels). Click OK
- Fill this expanded with WHTE color. Press Control-D to deselect it.
-Filter Menu-->Blur-->Gaussian. Enter 2 (pixels), and click OK
Step 5:
- Duplicate "White Glow" channel, and name it "Yellow glow".
Click OK
- Control-click on Yellow channel to load it as selection.
- Selection Menu-->Modify-->Expand, enter 3 pixels and click OK
- Fill Yellow channel with WHITE color. Deselect it by press Control-D
Step 6:
- Filter Menu-->Blur-->Gaussian-->Enter 3 pixels. Click OK.
- Duplicate "Yellow channel" name the new channel "Green glow".
Click OK
- Control-Click on "Green channel" to load it as selection.
- Select Menu-->Modify-->Expand. Enter 6 pixels, click OK
Step 7:
- Fill "Green channel" with WHITE color. Deselect by press Control-D
- Filter Menu-->Blur-->Gaussian--> Enter 10 pixels. Click OK
Step 8:
- Layers Palette-->click on (your) Type layer. Delete your Type layer.
- Click on Foreground color swatch
Choose bright Green color(#00FF54) as
your Foreground color.
Step 9:
- Select Menu-->Load selection-->choose Green glow channel. Click OK
- Fill this selection with bright Green color (#00FF54)
- Select Menu-->Load selection-->choose Yellow glow-->fill yellow color
(your choose)
- Select Menu-->Load selection-->choose White glow channel. Click OK
- Fill this channel (White glow) with WHITE color.
- Select Menu-->Load selection-->choose "Black Type", click
OK
- Fill Black Type channel with Black color.
