Lunch at the Wild Plum Tea Room on
Tuesday
Clockwise around the table ... Helen, Jackie, Suzanne (face
partially hidden),
Nellie Faye, Mary Frances and Kitty
Jackie, Suzanne and Vickie all came up from C-N to join us for
this event. Sorry I missed
capturing Vickie's picture at lunch, but we were able to
celebrate her birthday with her!
Another group at the Wild Plum ...
Barbara G., Wanda, Imogene, Marian
What a wonderful, rustic place we found at the Wild Plum Tea Room
which I learned was named for the wild plum trees surrounding
this charming log building. It is a popular off-the-beaten-path
spot for luncheons. The menu includes sandwiches, house salads
and their delicious specialty chicken salad. If you've saved
room, the desserts are "a must." And .... you mustn't
miss
their Wild Plum Tea or Wild Plum Muffins. Both recipes are shown
below.
In one of our most enjoyable events,
Nellie Faye (leaning over for more material) led us in a mini-Elderhostel.
She had packets of material for each of us and instructed us in
the beautiful art of making "illuminated letters,"
a skill learned in Calligraphy classes. Unfortunately, I was so
interested and busy trying out my hand at this art
that I forgot my camera; this picture was forwarded to me by
Mattie.

Note the arrangement of magnolias at the foot of the stairs.
Magnolias, and magnolia art, are found everywhere
as this is the main focus for decorating Eight Gables.
Pensive pose ..... Helen and Wanda
at the Chop House in Five Oaks, Pigeon Forge
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner there before attending the Louise
Mandrell Show.
Nancy and Nellie Faye posed for me
at our first night's dinner after settling in .....
Cherokee Restaurant in Gatlinburg.
Mary Frances, with appropriate
bonnet and pose, as she entertained us with a not-to-be-believed
operatic rendition of "Old Mother Hubbard," accompanied
by Ann Jones at the piano. At times,
both Ann and Fessor joined in. Hilariously funny ....... you just
had to be there!!
(How she kept a straight face I'll never understand.)
Mattie, Marian, Barbara J., Earlene
and Wanda
..... seen working on the eagle puzzle. Mattie declared it must
be completed before we could go home.
It wasn't. Someone (names not allowed) found a piece or two of
the puzzle in her luggage when she got home!
