We have been observing Lent - to an old atheist like me, that means I eat fish on Friday, or cheese ravioli.
I certainly have no problem with observing ritual. In fact, I find ritual quite interesting. I admire my Catholic husband. Fish is fine when covered with marinara (not a big fan of the scaly ones, but with a proper sauce...) The cheese ravioli is yummy.
