R&B songstress Monica hosted an exclusive listening session on Monday (April 22) for her forthcoming third album, which is due July 23. The singer previewed six songs from the forthcoming set at New York's W Hotel. The first of the tracks, "All Eyez On Me," features a sample of Michael Jackson's "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)"--the "King of Pop" also provides some new adlibs on the cut, which was produced by Jackson's Invincible cohort Rodney Jerkins.
Monica also previewed "I Wrote This Song" and "Breaks My Heart," both produced by Soulshock & Karlin, as well as "Ain't Gonna Cry No More"--another Rodney Jerkins produced song--and "You Should've Known" and "If You Were The Girl," which were produced by Jermaine Dupri, who recently scored a monster hit with Usher's "U Got It Bad."
Monica's two previous outings, 1995's Miss Thang, and 1998's The Boy Is Mine, were each certified triple-platinum for sales of 3 million copies.

Tour Supports Hit Album "Doggy Bag" and "Like Mike"Film Debut (dateline - New York - Columbia Records - April 22) With Doggy Bag, his sophomore album on So So Def/Columbia Records, hitting the RIAA platinum mark, Lil Bow Wow is about to launch his Scream 2 U.S. tour, the eagerly-awaited follow-up to last year's sold out and highly successful Scream Tour. Since the success of Beware Of Dog, released in 2000,Lil Bow Wow has become a household name. The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart and kicked out the #1 Rap single "Bow Wow (That's My Name)." Two of Bow Wow's videos--"That's My Name" and "Puppy Love"--were voted #1 Videos on BET. His much-heralded follow-up, Doggy Bag, was certified gold less than a month after its release on December 21, 2001. Doggy Bag entered the Billboard Top 200 album chart and #6 and contains his current hit single, "Take Ya Home."
In conjunction with success of Doggy Bag, Bow Wow recently completed finished filming "Like Mike" his first starring role in a major feature film. Set for release on July 12th by 20th Century Fox, "Like Mike" stars Bow Wow as an orphan teenager who finds sneakers that were "allegedly" worn by NBA legend Michael Jordan. By wearing the sneakers, Bow Wow becomes an extraordinary basketball player and subsequently the youngest player to enter the NBA. The movie features cameos by NBA stars Jason Kidd, Alonzo Mourning, Chris Webber, Tracy McGrady, David Robinson, Rasheed Wallace and others.
Most recently, Bow Wow was nominated for his second straight Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Award: "Best Male Artist" award (an award he won in 2001). He has also appeared in MTV's feature presentation,"Carmen," a hip-hopera based on Bizet's classic opera. Bow Wow's new clothing line, among other ventures,will be announced later this year.

In related news, Jay-Z announced that his new album would be titled "The Gift & The Curse" and is still schedlued for a release in November. Also, recently several left-over tracks from his last album, "The Blueprint" were leaked onto the Internet. The tracks "Early This Morning", "Callin My Name", "Show Me" and "South Philly Niggaz" (which contains a diss to Jayo Felony) can be found on a Napster clone near you.

Nickelback are facing a breach-of-contract lawsuit filed Jan. 25 in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Canada, by their former management company. Amar Management alleges that the Canadian band failed to pay it various fees and wrongfully terminated its contract.
The band allegedly signed a contract with Amar Management in 1996 and worked with the company through two independent albums and its first Roadrunner Records release, The State. The label contends it was responsible for the development of Nickelback's career and played a fundamental role in the band's discovery and recent success.
President for Amar Management Terry Cuddeford told LAUNCH they've been trying to get the dispute resolved since the band left the management team in 1999. "Originally we were trying to make a settlement with the group, and their lawyer strung us along for quite a while," he said. "And it's also expensive to go to Supreme Court so we had to get our financing together and pursue the matter as well. The actual writ that has been filed contends that the relationship never really did end, that our contract is still valid, which is a point that we still believe in."
Eminem's new album "The Eminem Show" will be mixed down in the upcoming weeks. This album has a more serious air than his two previous album. This will be the last Eminem album you will hear for awhile because he wants to take time off and spend time with his daughter. This is album is Eminem's way of getting a couple of things off his chest before he sits down to be a full-time father. I hear that Interscope for the first single off the album to be along the lines of "My Name Is" and "The Real Slim Shady" but that type of song will probably be out of place on this album. I hear that Eminem is against it but he might not have a choice.
A portion of one new song from the album, "Cleaning Out My Closet," is featured in trailers for 8 Mile, the rapper's quasi-biopic and star vehicle, and can be viewed at www.shadyrecords.com. The soundtrack to the film, scheduled for a summer release, will also feature new Eminem material.

Twenty-three-year-old R&B sensation and television star Brandy has announced that she was married this past summer to producer and songwriter Robert Smith. "I've fallen in love with a very warm, gentle, understanding and focused person," Brandy said in a recent statement. "This summer we married quietly. A new experience, a new day for me -- I couldn't be happier!"
On March 5th, Brandy will release "Full Moon" -- her first album since 1998's Never Say Never, which yielded the mega hit "The Boy is Mine," a duet with fellow teen star Monica.
