Now you have the system, let us talk about the extra goodies any serious gamer has gotta have from arcade sticks to some serious audiophile speakers. Need I say anything about the base unit shown here with the optional and much needed 8MB memory card. A second controller is also a must have for beating down your next door neighbor or any so-called superstar. Just make sure it's of the DualShock 2 variety. This redesigned controller has analog control in a digital world which means that the controls will respond to your slightest touch or hardest nudge with equal variation. This should give you precise handling capabilities in tight squeezes unless you're a phucking lame. If you buy more than two controllers consider getting them from a third party, Racing fans have a nice choice between two Nascar endorsed racing wheels. One just a compact version aptly called Nascar Compact and of course the full featured Nascar Shock 2 complete with racing pedals both from Trustmaster. A trusted name in third party peripherals. The Compact and the Nascar Shock 2 are both PS and PS2 compatible. There are a couple of pieces that I would pass on. One of those being the Verticle stand. Why? Why would you want one? Are you dat pressed for space. Clean your crib up! The other piece I would avoid is an arcade stick. You want arcade go to the arcade. The last must leave in the store peripheral would be the flourescent colored controllers such as the Vipers. With all your gaming needs now met it is time to turn to the DVD side of the your PS2 gaming system. Let's start with the obvious the RC. The RC comes in two parts: the smallest piece is the infared receiving unit which plugs into the PS2 itself. The second piece to the RC peripheral is the handheld remote itself. I think this one is self explanatory, but just in case the RC is a basic unit with very minimal features. Last up we turn to sound. As a CD, DVD, and game player the PS2's best and in my opinion the baddest (meaning good) piece of aftermarket hardware you'll want to purchase is a set of surround sound speakers. The cost for the set shown here is more than the PS2 itself, but what the hell. Lets kick it up a notch. Or you can peep out the current list of available titles.
