Quiet Reflections

calendar by Casandy's Designs

This is the day the Lord has made,
I will rejoice and be glad in it!

No Time for Quiet Time? Need daily devotions?
Balancing kids and work? Where is the one place you go everyday? Online.
Whether you are checking emails or doing business, your computer is always in front of you.
That is why I thought to start a daily devotional page online.
I've been thinking of all the wonderful promises we have from our Lord
that we really need to reflect on and store deep in our hearts.
He has given us these promises
so we can be reminded how much He loves us and cares for us.
Come back each day and enjoy the daily bible verses below as you have your quiet time today with the Lord.

What are the 10 Commandments?
How much do you know about the Ten Commandments?
Sadly, most people know little about them at all.
Few people can name more than three or four of them.
Don't you think it's about time you learned
what the Ten Commandments are all about?
Those who take the time to study them
find they're not a list of "Thou shalt nots,"
but are in fact God's guide to the good life.
That's why the Bible calls them "the royal law" and "the law of liberty."
There's much more to these commands than meets the eye.
They're not just God's way of preventing us from having a good time.
They're designed to protect us, our families and our communities.
They're a guide to transforming the way we think, what we do and how we live.
The Ten Commandments
Exodus 20 v.1-17

1 And God spoke all these words: 2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
3 "You shall have no other gods before me.
4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
13 "You shall not murder.
14 "You shall not commit adultery.
15 "You shall not steal.
16 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

I have found these prayers to be a blessing,

I pray these daily blessings are helpful to you and will stir you to seek the Lord's presence and guidance each day.

Deuteronomy 6:5-9
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”

The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." ~1 Sam 16:7
