The Band

They have been around for ten years (under different names, naturally- they are a rock band: one of which being the Floyds- in which Chrystina, Jayce's wife, was a singer, when she took a sabbatical to have their child, Holden, the dudes began to focus on Butch's side project, namely, the marvelous 3). They started getting radio play with their second album- Hey!Album - because a radio station in their home town of Atlanta gave major play to "Freak of the Week". Their first album, called -Math and Other Problems- was released on the independent label Deep South records( go buy it, it's great!). The Hey! album was originally done on their own Marvelous records, then an Elektra person heard them live and they redid the album with help from a "real" studio (which means the indie version of Hey!Album is rare and valuable and i want it).

(Disclaimer- I have met the boys in person, but i don't know everything. i try and gather what info i can when i meet them, but i'm thinking that the interviews are gonna be my main source- remember to email me questions for them!)

BUTCH WALKER: Was born November 14 in Georgia. He is 6'2" and 165 lbs. With black hair and either green or hazel eyes (it's a mystery- two different sources, two different answers... in all the pictures i have they look brown) Currently digs Radiohead (and he went to a rave to see MOBY) but also likes a bunch of old school stuff, like KISS. (i will elaborate when i get it from the horses mouth). And he decided to be a rock star, rather than and astronaut, after seeing a Kiss concert (in 1977 when he was but a wee lad) and realizing that his desire to perform had a better outlet.

(his first name is a big secret cuz he hates it) MITCHELL "SLUG" McLEE: Was born June 9, in Michigan. he's 5'9" and 150 lbs (and he has really huge drummer-arms. which is very impressive). He has black hair and blue eyes. Currently, he likes Dovetail Joint (a band they were touring with). And he drinks Pepsi, and once ate a gyro on the tour bus and made it smell of pizza. (i'm trying folks, i'll get some more real info when i can).

JAYCE FINCHER: was born April 18 in Georgia. He says he's 5'9" and 165 lbs .He has blonde hair and green eyes and likes Dovetail Joint just like Slug. He likes John Grisham and Austin Powers (an odd combination...). He plays golf (although i don't know if he actually plays well...) and likes spicy food. And he has a three year old son named Holden. and he has been known to stick sharpies up his nose. (i have a pic and i will post it when i scan it in). (ps- thanks to the jayce page for the info!!)

What can I say except their live shows RULE!!! They demmand audience participation and truly put on a show. Realizing that modern rock has become lax in it's actual function as entertainment, they have boldly set out to redefine what makes a rock band kool. And they decided it was about having fun and committing to a performance. Tired of depressing music and shows that may as well be overpriced sound checks, they rebel against the notion that whining about life and pain in general makes someone deep. With impromtu monologues as intros to the songs, clever lyrics, cute choreography, and face contortions that would rival Jim Carrey, they just make you wanna laugh dance and sing. Which is exactly what they want.
