The False Gospel of Conditional Security

Resources supporting eternal security and refuting conditional security are below this introduction.

One can find plenty of Dan Corner conditional security propaganda on the web. I have written of the Dan Corner conditional security plague (as well as other observations on conditional security in general) elsewhere on the site. See this essay (revised and expanded as of April 2003):

Because Roman Catholics (among others) reject concepts such as salvation is by grace through faith alone but instead cling to the teaching that one must "merit" one's entry into heaven, they believe in Conditional Security. It is recommended, therefore, that you acquaint yourself with Roman Catholicism.

Please further note that many proponents of eternal security tend to be Calvinists; I regard Calvinism as being another false teaching. I do not consider myself to be an "Arminian," either.

Unlike some, I do not make a distinction between the terms "eternal security" and "once saved always saved." To me, they both mean the same thing.

The Christian Life: Eternal Security or Conditional Security?

Read the original page HERE

The original page refutes such arguments as

  • Eternal security implies a 'license' to sin without consequences
  • Eternal security is detrimental to the cause of Christ. Those who teach eternal security advance the cause of Satan.
  • The passages in the Bible that seem to support eternal security were not translated accurately from the original Greek or Hebrew texts, and therefore their commonly understood meanings are incorrect.
  • and much more!

Don't listen to conditional security advocates. Listen to Paul, who warned believers about them:

Galatians 1: 6 - 10

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- 7 which is really no gospel at all.

Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!

9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!
10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Conditional security rejects God's grace and the role of faith in the salvation process by making salvation and the possession of it ultimately dependent upon the works (or lack of works) of the believer, and so it is a false gospel
