The Auxiliary Fire Services training programmes revolve around basic firefighting, rescue operations and various pump operations. The Auxiliary fire services training is very similiar to training undertaken by the professional fire services in Ireland, but at a more basic level and excluding the use of Breathing Apparatus as members of the A.F.S are not required to enter structure fires.

The main objective of the training is to teach you how to use the equipment quickly and safely and also to teach you how to work as a team.

The areas covered in the training include:
1. Rope Work ( as in knots )
2. Firefighting
3. Rescue
4. Pump operations
