Chapter 15 - Casey Jane

It had now been a week later and Alexis had gone back to her dad, claiming that she was extremely happy to leave the twins behind. Zac had been heartbroken, as he had had a huge crush on her.

"Hey Kayla!! I've got another letter from C.J!" Jaymi yelled out. Jaymi ran inside and opened the letter from her younger pen-pal, who was like a little sister to Jaymi. C.J stood for Casey Jane, but she hated it when people called her that. She was 12 years old, nearly 13 and had long auburn hair, bright green eyes and aperfect completion. She was slim, and stood at about 5'4", just a few inches shorter than the twins. C.J was the daughter of one of the twin's father's friends. That's how the twins had met C.J. Jaymi had really hit it off with C.J, but Kayla wasn't to fussed about being friends with an 11 year old. (C.J had been 11 when the twins met her.)

"Good for you" Kayla said, uninterested. C.J and Kayla got along ok..but weren't the best of friends. Jaymi poked her tongue out at her sister and sat down on the sofa. She opened her letter and proceeded to read it.

Hey Jaymi!
How are you? Im ok...I was just wondering though, are you busy for the next couple of weeks? if you aren't then would I be able to come down to visit you? I have a few weeks of summer vacation left so yeah. Call me when you get this letter and let me know ok? cool. How's Kayla, Malcom and your Mom? good I hope. I am sorry to hear about your ordeal a few weeks ago! I'm just glad that you are okay! Sorry that I haven't written to you in a while! I have just been really busy, you know, with us moving and all. We are now living in New York! but its only for 6 months, then we are going back to Florida. I haven't made many friends here yet, as we are on vacation, so yeah..I have met this one guy...his name is Jake, he is REALLY cute! he lives in the apartment above me. He is really nice to. I think he likes me...he's around our place a lot, asking if we need any help unpacking and all. I cant believe you are going out with Isaac! that is soooo cool! I can just remember meeting them last year...well, what I can remember is me and Zac not getting along very well. Ohwell, maybe if I can visit I'll be able to meet them again? that would be really great! and my friends back in Florida would go mental! they all LOVE Hanson, and if they knew about you and Isaac, even Kayla and Taylor! they would start a riot! but I wont tell anyone about you guys, cuz you asked me not to :o) Okay, this letter is getting long. Call me as soon as you get this and let me know about me coming over! okay well, BYE!

Lots of hugz
C.J

Jaymi folded up the letter and put it back into the envelope.

"She might be coming over to visit!" Jaymi called out to her sister.

"Really? when?" Kayla asked, entering the living room from the kitchen. Jaymi shrugged.

"I have to call her. I will tonight though. When Mom gets home and I've had a chance to talk to her about it." Jaymi more to herself than to Kayla. She got up and left the room, then made her way up to her own room. She placed C.J's letter with the others she had received from her friend.

-------------------------------------------

"I'LL GET IT!!" Zac shouted out in the half empty house. He ran to the phone and picked it up, sure that it was for him. "Hello?"

"Ohmigod! is that the Hanson residence? *giggle* " A female voice asked. Zac rolled his eyes, knowing what was going to happen if he said yes. "Uhhh, just a sec, I'll go get my....uhh...friend, this isn't my house." Zac said, smiling to himself. Then he shouted out Taylor's name, loud enough for the girl on the other end to hear. Taylor came into the front hall.

"What?" He asked, annoyed at being disturbed from his nap on the sofa.

"Phone for you" Zac said, then handed the phone over to Taylor.

"Hello?"

"*scream* OHMIGOD! IT'S TAYLOR HANSON!! I'M TALKING TO TAYLOR HANSON!! *more screaming* I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!! OHMIGOD!!" The girl screamed into the phone. Taylor groaned and looked around for Zac, who had suddenly disappeared. I'm going to kill him! Taylor thought to himself. He then tried to get the girl to calm down, but only succeeded to make her scream more. He had to eventually hang up the phone, feeling very guilty.

"ZAC! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!?" Taylor screamed out.

"Taylor! language!" His father called out from the study.

"Sorry!" Taylor called back. In silence, Taylor searched the house for his younger sibling. He found Zac, in the guys bedroom, building something out of leggo. "AHA! What did you think you were doing?" Taylor demanded, walking into the room and slamming the door shut so Zac wouldn't have a fast escape. Zac looked up at Taylor.

"You know you can handle those screamers better than what I can... and you know they love talking to you better than me." Zac said. Taylor shook his head.

"That's not going to work this time! God damnit Zac! you know how much I hate talking to fans who do nothing but scream in my ear" Taylor cried, sitting down on his bed. Zac grinned.

"I know... what other reason would I have for doing it?" He asked. Taylor groaned and buried his face in his hands.

"You're unbelievable" He mumbled. Zac grinned again, taking his brothers words as a compliment.

"Thanks... now if you don't mind... I'm gonna go see what Jeremy is up to" Zac said, referring to his friend. He got up and walked out of the room, opening the door and then leaving it open. Taylor wanted to strangle his brother. Zac did that to him every time a fan called the house. And Taylor always fell for the joke. It wasn't often that a fan would call without screaming. They sometimes just wanted to actually talk to either him or his brothers. Taylor soon found out thinking about Zac was boring and quickly shifted his thoughts to Kayla. He smiled when Kayla's pretty face came into his mind. Kayla was one of his first girlfriends, so he kinda had no idea what he was doing. He had never really talked to girls much before the twins. He had discovered what Kayla's limits were, and he found out that he wasn't allowed to do very much. Suddenly his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps and someone whistling. Soon Isaac walked into the bedroom. Taylor watched as Isaac went over to a desk and sat down, totally unaware that Taylor was there.

"Ike, can I ask you something" Taylor broke the silence. Isaac jumped and whirled around in his seat.

"You scared the living shit out of me. When did you get here?" He asked.

"I was here before you. Anyway.. can I ask you something?"

"I guess"

"Ok well... um, when you and Jaymi are like fooling around, how far does Jaymi let you go?" Taylor asked, his face going slightly red. Taylor noticed that Isaac found it hard to look at him and he seemed to be concentrating on a spot on his shirt.

"Uh, pretty far... why?" Isaac finally answered.

"Kayla's different. We've been going out for nearly a month now and all we have done is kiss... it's driving me crazy! She wont let me do anything else" Taylor whined. Isaac tried not to laugh.

"Taylor, she's not like you... she's not sex crazy. She want's to take it slow so let her. If you don't want to then break up with her." Isaac said.

"Ike... I'm not sex crazy. If you want to see sex crazy take a look at our twelve year old brother for Christ's sake" Taylor said. Isaac shook his head.

"He's not that bad Taylor. He's nearly thirteen... not everyone hated girls like you did when they were thirteen" Isaac replied. Taylor shot Isaac a dirty look.

"I did not hate girls. They just didn't interest me the way they do now... and the one I love wont let me find out anything!" Taylor groaned, flopping back on his bed.

-------------------------------------------

"So it's ok for me to visit?" C.J asked hopefully.

"Uh-huh... and you can see Hanson again... Zac has changed so I think you will like him now" Jaymi said. C.J smiled.

"I hope so... so you'll come and get me at the airport on Thursday?" C.J asked.

"Yep, I'll get Isaac to drive Kayla and me... meaning Taylor and Zac will probably come along to... I just have to see if Ike is busy or not..." Jaymi said. The girls talked for about a hour longer and then C.J's father came home, yelling at C.J to get off the damn phone and claiming that he was not made of money. C.J said goodbye to Jaymi and hung up. Then she went directly to her room. It was Tuesday, and she was leaving Wednesday night for Tulsa. Only one more day with her dysfunctional family. C.J laid down on her bed and closed her eye's. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. C.J lifted her head.

"Yeah?" she called out. The door opened and her mother walked in. Her mother was the only person in the family who was kind to C.J. C.J had 3 older brothers and they treated her the same way her father did, like shit. Except for Brian.

"Were you just talking to Jaymi honey?" Mrs. Appleton asked. C.J nodded and sat up.

"Jaymi's gonna see if Isaac can drive her and Kayla down to the airport to come pick me up... " C.J said, smiling. Mrs. Appleton smiled back at her daughter.

"That's nice dear. When are you going to start packing?"

"Either tonight or tomorrow... are you taking me to the airport or is Dad?" C.J asked worriedly.

"I am sweetie... don't worry. Anyway, I just came to let you know that while you were on the phone, Jake stopped by and invited you to dinner. You can go if you want... your father isn't in a very good mood and it would be better for you to stay out of his way tonight" Mrs. Appleton said. C.J nodded. Mrs. Appleton then left the room so C.J could get ready to go over to Jake's. She got up and ran a brush through her thick hair. She then decided she looked decent enough and proceeded in sneaking out of the apartment so her father wouldn't demand to know where she was going. She made it up to Jake's safely and knocked on the door. Jake's nine year old sister, Mariah, answered.

"Hi C.J, come on in... Jake's been waiting for you for ages..." Mariah said.

"No I haven't!" Jake shouted out from the living room. C.J smiled and walked to where Jake was. She then sat down infront of him on the floor.

"Who were you talking to when I came?"

"Jaymi... she's my friend from Tulsa... I'm going to stay with her family for the rest of the summer" C.J said, grinning. Jake's smile faded and he glared at C.J.

"When are you going?"

"Tomorrow night" C.J said quietly, knowing that Jake was angry at her. Jake was the only friend she had made in New York so far... apart from Mariah. Jake was 13, a year older than C.J. He was short for his age and he had short blonde hair with green eye's. He was always friendly to C.J but he could get moody... C.J soon found that out. C.J discovered that Jake's family was very different from her own. Both of Jake's parents were loving towards their children and Jake's father doted on his little girl (Mariah). During dinner, Jake didn't talk to C.J much. But after dinner he took C.J by the hand and lead her towards his room.

"Keep the door open honey" Jake's Mom called out.

"I know ok?" Jake yelled back. He and C.J walked into his small room and sat down on his bed.

"Jake... are you still mad at me for going to Tulsa?" C.J dared to ask. Jake shook his head.

"No... it's just that you've only just come and now your going off to see some friends and I'm gonna be bored again." Jake said.

"You still have Brian" C.J said, referring to her fourteen year old brother. Jake screwed up his face.

"Yeah, but he's not as good as you"

"Really?" C.J asked. She looked up at Jake and noticed that his face was close to hers. He leaned forward and lightly brushed his lips against C.J's. He then sat back and smiled shyly at her. C.J sat in shock... this was her first kiss.

"Will you go out with me?" Jake asked. C.J sat on Jake's bed and with wide eye's she nodded yes.
