Chapter 8

Isaac stormed angrily into his bedroom and slammed the door shut.
Taylor looked at him cautiously. "You okay, man? Did Charm say that things were over or something?" He asked concerned for his brother and his life if Isaac blew up.
Isaac threw a foam football hard at the wall. "No!" He stated as he went over to their dartboard and collected all of the darts.
    "Well?" Taylor asked slowly.
"Well, what?" Isaac asked sharply as he threw a dart really hard at the dartboard.
"Well, what did she say then? What did Charm say that made you so angry?" Taylor asked getting up, watching as Isaac angrily throwing the darts. Poor dartboard. He thought sadly.
"She didn't even show, Tay." He said as he threw the last dart.
He jumped up to his bed. After he laying flat on his back, he stared up at the ceiling. "She didn't even show up." He said more calmly.
Taylor shook his head, "Then I guess that song was for real." He murmured softly, his shoulders slouched. "I'm sorry, Isaac." He said trying to comfort him. "I really am."
Isaac turned his head to face him. "It's not your fault, Tay. D and I are really over, I guess." He thought for a moment. "It sounds like we broke up, doesn't it?" He asked.
Taylor nodded his head. "I don't know if this is the right time to tell you, but you know Shawn, right?" He asked nervously.
Isaac thought a moment. "Yeah. That computer guy, right? Always switching games with you and stuff."
"Yeah, that's him. He called just before you got here." He said getting more nervous.
"So?" Isaac asked wondering what Taylor was getting at.
"Umm, he'sgoingoutwithCharmtomorrownight." He said all in one breath.
"What?" Isaac asked confused. "I guess I don't speak the language."
Taylor rolled his eyes. "Please, don't make me say it again." He begged.
"I didn't even hear you the first time!" Isaac argued.
Taylor took a deep breath. "Charm, is going out with him tomorrow. On a date. Just them." He said more slowly; as he backed away from his brother. Not knowing what kind of reaction he would have to this sort of news.
Isaac felt as if someone sucked the breath out of him. "What?" He gasped.

~ Dahven's House ~

"So did you hear about Kasha and Syrus?" Arie asked walking into Dahven's room. Without knocking.
"Don't bother knocking, Arie. Just come right on in. In fact," She said getting up, she looked her door over and wrinkled her brow. "I think I'm going to have it removed. Because when it's closed it's supposed to discourage people from walking in, but it doesn't seem to be working." She said before sitting back down on her bed.
Arie sat down at the foot of her bed. "Sorry." He stated lamely.
Dahven rolled her eyes. "Whatever." She grumbled.
"So did you hear about Syrus and Kasha?" He asked again.
Dahven nodded. "If you mean about their divorce, yeah. Kasha told me this morning when we brushed up on her past."
Arie cringed. "Yeah, I know. Kasha decided that we needed a brush up on the past too. She told me what happened and everything."
"Doesn't it make you get this warm tingly feeling inside?" She asked bitterly.
    "Yeah." Arie said harshly.
"So, who are you going with?" Dahven asked. Unsure if she actually wanted to know. Or if she should even care.
Arie shook his head. "Neither. Same as you." He said getting up and striding to her door.
Dahven sat up. "Wait, Arie." She said softly.
She walked over to him and hugged him tightly.
He hugged her back, and Dahven got tears in her eyes because Arie and her never really been close. She didn't even remember the last time that they hugged each other. Then the memory came flooding back.
"The last time we hugged," Dahven started as they pulled apart.
"Was when Syrus and Kasha were renewing their vows." Arie finished.
Dahven nodded. "Arie, that was barely three months ago when they did that." She stated quietly.
"And they vowed that they would be together as long as thou both shall lived." Arie said repeating the vow their parent's made. Twice.
"The court date is set for the day after tomorrow."
"They don't waste anytime do they?" She asked coldly.
Arie shook his head. "Goodnight, Charm. " He said softly before he left.
"Goodnight." Dahven whispered as she shut the door.

~ Hanson's House ~

"So, Mom, where is thsi next field trip to?" Taylor asked as he sat down at the kitchen table with a bowl of cereal.
Isaac and Zac were both eating bowls of cereal too. And they each stared at their mother expectantly, as they shoveled the cereal into their mouths.
"I was planning on the court house. You know, maybe see a hearing or a trial maybe." Mrs. Hanson said smiling. "So that we can have a chance to see our legal system at first hand?"
They bobbed their heads in agreement.
"Where's Charm? I haven't seen her around lately." Mrs. Hanson asked taking a sip from her orange juice.
Isaac's head snapped up, as Taylor and Zac looked from Isaac to their mother.
"She just hasn't been around." Taylor explained meekly, answering so Isaac wouldn't have to.
Mrs. Hanson got up and nodded. "Okay, next time one of you three see her tell her 'hi' for me." She said leaving.
Taylor and Zac got up rinsed their bowls out, and put their dishes in the dishwasher.
Isaac just sat there and stared down at his cereal. The once sweet cereal that he loved had turned sour and he didn't like it anymore.
"You okay, Ike?" Zac asked getting a bit worried over his big brother.
Isaac nodded. "Fine, Zac." He said as he got up and dumped the rest of his cereal in the trash. Then he put it in the dishwasher.
    "Just fine." He said leaving.
