"Honey? You shouldn't
be out here. You get back home." Sarah's mom says.
"You told me that you and
dad quit this job. You know I think it's too dangerous." Sarah
says.
"Well, you gave up your
right to choose what we did as soon as you moved out." Her mom says.
Brian walks up to the two
and asks, "What's going on?"
"And who is this?"
Sarah's mom asks.
"This is my boyfriend Brian.
Brian, this is my mom, Jennifer." Sarah says.
Jennifer and Brian shake
hands.
"Brian do me a favor."
Jennifer says.
"What's that?" Brian
asks.
"Get my persistence daughter
out of this dangerous place." Jennifer says.
"Mom, I'm not going anywhere.
Tell me why you came back to this." Sarah demands.
"Just get her out of here.
It's too dangerous for both of you." Jennifer says.
Brian starts to pull Sarah
back to the car but she persists. He finally picks her up around
the waste and puts her in the car. Then he starts the car and takes
off.
(When they reach AJ and me)
I hear a banging on the door.
I run and open it; there stands Sarah and Brian.
"Are you OK?" Brian
asks in shock.
"She's fine. Don't
you think I can take care of her?" AJ asks as he walks around the
corner.
Brian smiles and says, "I
know you can take plenty care of her. It was just a natural reaction
to ask her that."
Sarah walks in silently.
"What's wrong girl?
You and Brian still fighting?" I ask Sarah quietly.
"No, it's not that."
Sarah says sitting down on the couch.
"Then what is it?"
I ask.
"We ran into mom today."
Sarah says quietly.
"Oh crap. How'd it
go?" I ask.
"Well, she's back on the
rescue force it seems." Sarah says.
"Oh man, I know how you
hate that." I say.
"What was that all about
today Sarah?" Brian asks as he walks over to us.
"I don't want to talk about
it right now. Let's just get over to Howie and Kevin's place."
Sarah says.
(We all show up at Howie and Kevin's place)
"I wonder if Nick felt that
last night." Howie says.
"The way that boy sleeps,
I doubt he did." Brian says.
"I guess we'll find out
soon enough; I'm sure he's OK." Kevin says.
I sit Alex down on the floor.
We brought him with us because we didn't want him to be alone after what
had happened.
"I'm just so glad that's
over." Shena says.
"Yeah really."
I say.
I look over at Libby and
she seems to be a little upset. I walk over to her and motion for
her to follow me outside.
When we get outside Libby
asks, "What?"
"I can tell something's
wrong. So go ahead and tell me about it." I say.
"It's nothing, really."
Libby says.
"Girl, you know you cannot
lie to me. Tell me the truth, what's wrong?" I ask.
"It's...it's...well, I like
Howie. You know that I've always had a crush on him. And now
I'm face to face with him and I have to watch him go for someone else."
Libby says.
"Someone else," I ask, "who's
that?"
"Tiffany, everyone thinks
he wants her." Libby says.
"I can't help you with this
one girl. You need to find out on your own. Howie, Tiffany,
and you are all my close friends. I'm not making any choices for
you guys." I say.
"I know, I know."
Libby says.
(A Month Later)
"So girls; what are our plans?"
Nick says.
Libby, Sarah, Shena, Tiffany,
and I look at each other and say in unison, "Shopping."
"I swear, that's all you
girls do. And I thought I liked clothes." Howie says.
"Oh hush Howie." Shena
says.
"Hun, you can't go anywhere."
AJ says to me.
"Why not?" I ask upset.
"Don't you remember?
We're going into the doctor today to have an ultrasound." AJ says.
"I can't believe I forgot
about that!" I say.
"It's OK. When it
comes to shopping...well...you know." AJ says smiling.
I tickle his stomach and
say, "What? Say it."
"Well, um..." AJ says
as he tries to think of something to say.
I keep tickling him, everyone
starts ganging on him.
"Hey, HEY," AJ yells, "we
have to get to that appointment!"
"He's right. Let him
up." I say.
(At the doctors)
"Well, so far so good it
seems. The baby seems to be very healthy. And your pregnancy
is coming along very nicely." The doctor says while giving me the
ultrasound.
"What about that mishap
in Paris?" AJ says.
"Everything has healed."
The doctor says.
"Thank God." I say
softly.
"Would you like to know
the sex of your baby?" The doctor asks.
AJ and I look at each other,
then at the doctor.
"Yes." AJ says.
The doctor points
to the monitor and says, "Well, look on the screen there. You see
that? You two are having a healthy baby..."
