(Later in the morning)
The doctor walks in the room. I'm laying in bed and AJ's sitting in a chair next to me reading a book. Howie went to the hotel to get some sleep.
"Well, how do you feel Miss Patterson?" The doctor asks.
"I've been better; but for what it's worth I'm feeling pretty good." I say.
"Good. We want to keep here in the hospital for 24 more hours since there was bleeding. Once she's home, she needs to stay on bedrest. Before she leaves the hospital, we want to do an ultrasound to be sure the baby is okay. If she has no cramping at home for 5 days, then she will return to the hospital for another ultrasound, pelvic and abdominal exam. If she's okay then, well she could go back to normal activity. If she has any more cramping at all, we'll put her on bedrest for several months." The doctor says.
"Do you think the baby's OK?" I ask.
"We're pretty sure everything's
going to be just fine. But a check will help us make sure."
The doctor says. AJ and I look at each other and smile.
"Well, everything looks just fine." The doctor says.
"Thank God." I say.
"It was a hard task keeping her off her feet for five days. You have no idea how much this girl has to be up and doing something at all times." AJ says. The doctor laughs.
"Well, you should still take it easy. I mean, you are pregnant. But as far as doing normal activities, that's OK." The doctor says.
"Good; I'm tired of just sitting around and doing nothing." I say.
(That evening)
"How about we all go out tonight?" Howie asks.
"That sounds like fun. I haven't been out in five days; I'm dying to get out." I say.
"None of us has really been out a lot. We've all been so worried about you; we couldn't go out without worrying the whole time." Sarah says.
"Well, what should we do?" Kevin asks.
"How about we all dress up, go to a fancy restaurant, and then when it's night, check out the Eiffel tower. I heard they let fireworks off on Friday nights." Shena says.
"Sounds good." Sarah says.
"Wait a minute. I'm not going to the top of the Eiffel tower again." Brian says.
"You can't see the ground at night; I promise you won't have to even look at the ground." Sarah says.
"I don't know." Brian says. Sarah gives a little pouty face.
"OK, OK. I'll go." Brian says. Sarah hugs him and gives him a kiss. We all split up. Girls with girls, guys with guys. We decide we'll make it fancy; but not too fancy. We girls go shopping for dresses.
